Ms. Gloria Romero in GMA's Sunday Grande via "Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko"

Ms. Gloria Romero with the kids of "Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko,"  David Remo, Chlaui Malayao, Jillian Ward and Julius Miguel.

Ms. Gloria Romero, tagged as the "Millennial Lola," for her funny and cool role in "Meant To Be," has another project in GMA Network. She'll be playing as Lola Goreng, a fairy grandmother of  Alice and Elvis portrayed by Jillian Ward and David Remo, respectively via the new kid-friendly, family oriented tv show "Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko."

Ms. Gloria Romero as Lola Goreng

This new Kapuso tv show caters to the kids, kids at heart and adults since it delivers good family values, and lessons depicted in a playful manner that everyone would surely love. The magical adventures of Lola Goreng together with Alice, Elvis, Moira (Chlaui Maglayao), the girl who they found on the streets and to add more magic in the story, there's Jomel (Julius Miguel) will definitely make all your Sunday afternoons grand!

Ms. Gloria Romero, has nothing but all praises to all the kids in the cast. She said that she finds them commendable because they must've really love their craft. She said, "Sa totoo lang, itong mga batang kasama ko dito ang gagaling, I can see their passion in acting. Minsan nahihiya nga ako kasi ako 'yung madalas magkamali. Sila, they van deliver their dialogues right away. Alam nila agad 'yung lines nila. They come to the set prepared. So ako, nahihiya ako whenever nagkakamali ako."

The wholle cast of "Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko" with direk Rico Gutierrez

During the presscon, Ms. Gloria aka Lola Goreng even told the press that, "Actually, I am so blessed talaga noh, sa edad kong ito, nabibigyan pa ako ng isang role na ganito, sa edad kong 83 years old, di ko na kailangang mag-prosthetics pa para maging lola haha. This particular one, talagang matagal kong inintay ang role na 'to, nakakabata talaga, kay gagaling na mga artista at kay direk, direk thank you for your patience and I'm sure this is going to be a wonderful project for all of us."

Ms. Gloria Romero was once local showbiz's Queen of Philippines movies during her era. I remember my mom and my grandma how they recall Ms. Gloria's angelic and perfect face like no other. She was the real epitome of a queen. I feel so happy for her that until now, she still can act and she's A-ok healthy with a sharp memory. Good thing that GMA Network is so trustful to her and still believe in her capabilities as an actress.

"Daig Kayo ng Lola" ko premieres this April 30 on Sunday Grande over Kapuso network with the Queen of Primetime, Marian Rivera-Dantes as their celebrity guest for their pilot episode.

As for me, I also feel fortunate and privileged to finally see and meet her. Close enough to have her picture taken with me.

Gabbi Garcia: Pantene Ambassador and her story

Gabbi Garcia, Pantene Ambassador

At her very tender age of eighteen, GMA Artist Center's  Gabbi Garcia has probably achieved a lot basing from her accomplishments starting with her family life, in academics, and from her passion to scuba diving, advocacies, music, acting career down to the latest feather in her cap which is being the latest Pantene Ambassador to represent the whole of Asia.

We've known the sweet Gabbi girl since she was still starting her showbiz career in GMA Network. Her first acting break came in June 2014 when she was one of the cast members of GMA's Telebabad Primetime block, "My Destiny." From there, we kept on encouraging her to join beauty pageants since she got this very distinct Filipina beauty and queenly features that we believe could align her to full stardom. You see Gabbi has this innocent-like aura with a pure charm that you'll be hooked on her once you get to know her better.

After three years, look what she has become! She's now the first Filipina to become the front wiman of the international shampoo brand, Pantene. Her latest Pantene TVC, was being aired in 10 Asian countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, China, Hongkong, Taiwan, Philippines and Australia.

She flew all the way to Australia to shoot the entire Pantene TVC and print campaign. Gabbi shares that being the only Filipina out there with a fantastic crew that includes the award-winning photographer and film-maker Olive Straub, Sydney-based Hollywood stylist Ellie Goodman, celebrity hairstylist Ken Arthur, and high profile Filipino make-up artist Robbie Piñera, is very overwhelming.

She has a lot of stories to tell from her audition down to the challenges of shooting the tvc and staying in Australia for ten days, we could really tell how happy and proud she is of her present ststus. I can also imagine how she makes her parents and whole family proud. You see, she bested several other potential celebrities and other auditionees. By that alone, the Pantene organizers themselves may have keenly seen "something" special with our girl Gabbi. According to her, she was just being herself the whole time of the audition and interview. So I guess, it really pays to be true to yourself and showcase the real you right?! While she and her manager were telling us the stories behind her latest success, we can't help but to experience goosebumps all throughout the blogcon.

For some, it may seem surreal but for Gabbi, it's so real!!!

Alongside with her international Pantene TVC, a print campaign was also created to highlight her being an international brand ambassadress for Pantene. She's the April cover of Preview magazine. You see, I do believe that when it rains, it really pours and that's what's going on with Gabbi and I know she deserves everything. She's even making raves and gaining more popularity by playing Sang'gre Alena in "Encantadia," a fantasy, drama, adventure, romance, action-drama series which is consistently high in tv ratings and owing to this, it has been extended several times.

Gabbi has set a new path for her career and she is just getting started. For the meantime, she'll just focus on her showbiz career first and probably have an album this year to cater her musical prowess, then she might be able to join beauty pageants a bit later, it depends. She takes being Asia's newest Pantene ambassador as a platform to send every Filipina, teen a message that believing anything is possible can make dreams come true. 'Atta girl!!!

Cheers to a more successful you my dear Gabbi!!!
You make us all very happy and proud!

Here are my youtube links to the videos of our interview with Gabbi during the blogcon hope you'll enjoy watching:

Experience the interactive #ArtKarnival at SM City North Edsa Skygarden

Bask in the "Art Karnival" at SM City North Edsa Skygarden

Do you happen to pass by the Skygarden located at SM City North Edsa? If yes, chances are, you'll be able to experience or perhaps has taken a glance or good look at some of the works of art from different Filipino young artists like Anjo Bolarda, Bato, Blic, Garapata, Jeffrey Jay Jarin, Tyang Karyel, VOV Studio and Whooop.

This summer, SM City North Edsa takes us all to a very interactive and fun experience of visual arts. Not an ordinary thing that we usually see in malls, so I guess you better check these out mall goers! This one-of-a-kind art adventure is in partnership with Vinyl on Vinyl, one of Manila's hippest contemporary art galleries.

Just recently, the #ArtKarnival was launched to the public and I was one of the privileged ones, who was able to cover and had the first glimpse of the exhibit.

Known tv personality, model, host, sports and arts enthusiast Gaby dela Merced

We were a bit surprised when Gaby's name was called by the event host, we were not certain if she was referring to the same Gaby that we've known as an ex-housemate from PBB (Pinoy Big Brother) and a Formula Three racecar driver. Little did we know that she's also inclined to artworks itself.

Gaby dela Merced was just simply clad and talked a lot of arts sense during #ArtKarnival launch in SM City North Edsa Sky Garden

Gaby with the SM City North Edsa officials

Instead of the usual ribbon-cutting, Gaby and the SM City North Edsa officials has launched the #ArtKarnival outdoor fair in Skygarden by putting colorful stickers to the Art Karnival bold letter display.

This is me!

At the same time, we also had the freedom to put our own stickers in any artistic way we can! See, that's sounds fun huh, and very interactive!

Before we start the brief tour just want to share with you this, just in case you don't have, because this will be very helpful for your tour at the #ArtKarnival

#ArtKarnival map and guide

Each piece in the exhibit was carefully selected and placed in areas that would bring not only the art piece itself to life but the surrounding area as well. As mall-goers walk the meandering path, installations pop-out at them, drawing their eyes to their surroundings stimulating interest. The whimsical almost fantasy-like world perfectly complements Skygarden's tenents.

The #ArtKarnival experience at SM City North Edsa Skygarden was different, fun and interactive. You just have to take time to go through it and best advice is, do it when the sun is not at its peakest point so you'll enjoy more of this outdoor fair which started last April 21 and will go on until June 12, 2017.

Thank you IHop Philippines and Shakey"s!!!

Midea Gas Ranges: Surprisingly withstanding the test of Filipino-style cooking

Whenever Filipinos are preparing for a big celebration, whether it is for birthdays, fiestas or family reunions, the kitchen sure gets so busy with all the cooking that needs to be done. All hands are on deck as all available chopping boards are brought out and batches of ingredients go through knives before getting them in the pots. While some ingredients are boiled or steamed before they are combined with the other ingredients to complete the dish, there are some that gets the heat treatment by frying, grilling, or roasting. This is how Filipinos do their feasts as one big community or one big family, helping each other, and then finally bonding over the dishes that they labored for.

A lot of kitchen appliances get battered every time there is a big feast coming up, especially the gas
stoves and ranges, because they catch all the mess from pots dripping with sauces that usually get caked on the surfaces. This could rust the body or some other parts of the stove and eventually affect its performance and eventually cause it to become unusable. The world’s leading manufacturer of consumer appliances, Midea understands the nature of how serious Filipinos are when it comes to cooking meals for their feasts.

The varied culinary influences the country got from the Chinese, Malay, Spanish and other contemporary cuisines has kept the Filipinos’ passion for cooking burning bright, as some age-old traditions are being passed down, rediscovered, and reinvented by the younger
generation. Younger families who trace their roots from far-flung provinces are bringing in their family’s tradition to their very own homes, where there might be not enough open space for a fire pit for roasting and grilling, or those big and heavy gas ranges that could fire up a big wok and take in enough volume of food enough for a good portion of the family clan or barangay.

Luckily, these young generations of families could still continue to enjoy and pass on further their family’s great recipes with Midea’s newest lineup of gas ranges that are specially designed to surprisingly withstand the test of Filipino cooking.
They have three models, two of which has an oven volume of 58L, while the other has a bigger one with 65L, each of which could accommodate 4 pans and pots cooking simultaneously. These sizes are more than enough to take in big batches of liempo or fish to grill, or a big slab of pork belly, rolled into a porchetta stuffed with tanglad and other ingredients that makes a lechon flavorful.

The 65L model has its own thermostat, which makes it easier for any home chef to control the temperature in the oven and serve only the best home-cooked Pinoy favorites. It could even function as a rotisserie, so that it could cook any kind of meat evenly and perfectly. And with its tempered glass lid, monitoring your culinary specialty with the gas range door closed is a breeze. While all of the models are using SBT burners to make every cooking experience safe, the 65L model even has a flame failure device to keep gas from building up within the appliance. These features do not only assure the safety of everyone and getting every family member involved and to bond in the kitchen, they also enable  Midea’s gas ranges to be handed down to the next generation.

Cooking in large volumes and very frequently could lead to a burnout, with gas tanks running out of fumes to keep you going. One of the 58L models has a hot plate where it uses electricity to heat up the pans and allows you to cook. This could be helpful in keeping the whole kitchen running, even if it is just one stove cooking and everyone is taking a quick break to wait for an LPG refill or replenishment. After everything is done and everyone in the family, friends, or guests are satisfied with the feast, cleaning up the Midea’s gas ranges is absolutely friendly because its body is made out of tough stainless steel.

Midea is also confident in giving their customers a 2-year warranty on parts and labor along with a 5-year warranty on burners. This could only mean that Midea’s lineup of gas ranges are there to stay in the kitchen for a very long time, dealing with more hard core cooking, Filipino-style for the years to come. With that much time, another younger generation of family members will be ready to take on the family tradition and hopefully pass on the cooking torch as well.

For more information on Midea’s products check out their website at http://midea.com.ph and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MideaPhilippines.

"The Case for Christ:" A very timely movie for everyone

Sometimes when you seek the answers to your questions, you tend to what? Some of us ask somebody right or talk to the authorities who may have the answers (if that's what they believe and trust)?! Or perhaps search about it. But in the "The Case for Christ," what do you think, how far would one go just to seek the truth. Is Jesus Christ for real or a hoax, does his life story which was written in the bible accurate or is the bible reliable enough for us, Christians to believe everyrhing that was written in there... those are only some of the questions and doubts that the main character, Lee Strobel had in his very confused mind all along.

Mike Vogel plays Lee Strobel in the story

Lee Strobel’s award-winning bestselling book based on a true story about a hard-driving investigative journalist and avowed aethieist (Strobel, played by Mike Vogel) who applies his well-honed journalistic and legal skills to disprove the newfound Christian faith of his wife… with unexpected, life-altering results.

I believe that the setting of the movie was around 1970's since the characters were wearing bell-bottom pants and that they had this obsolete type of typewriters so meaning, Lee had a really tough time investigating and researching about Christ, he even went to every other priest, church, doctor,  and even had long distance interviews with some theologists while he was also busy doing his day job as a prime journalist.

Strobel was exactly where he expected to be at work: on top. His award-winning investigative reporting recently earned him a promotion to legal editor at the Chicago Tribune. But things weren’t going nearly as well at home where his wife Leslie’s newfound faith in Christ went against everything Lee believed—or didn’t believe—as an avowed atheist.

His pregnant better half, Leslie, played by Erika Christensen was a confused wife and mom. She was once a Catholic before she met Lee and everyrhing that she believed in about God and the whole Christianity had vanished when she met Lee. There was an instance in a restaurant where they were dining, and that incident itself made a great impact and difference in their lives!

And since then, Leslie had been attending Christian fellowships and bible-reading sessions which Lee had rejected and disapproved. There are those times that he even tried to blend in with his wife and daughter's newly-found or should I say, renewed Christianity, but still at the end, he always holds back.

Utilizing his journalistic and legal training, Lee begins a quest to debunk the claims of Christianity in order to save his crumbling marriage. Chasing down the biggest story of his career, Lee comes face-to-face with unexpected results that could change everything he knows to be true.

Life's struggles and trials could be that real hard and sometimes, we even question Him. But at the end of the day, we become stronger, if we could just learn to hold on to Him and his teachings from the bible, we will all realize that God is always with us all along actually, guiding us, teaching us how to be real Christians, how to be fulfilled as his sons and daughters and most of all, He continues to love us all unconditiomally because He is such a forgiving Father, our God the Father together with His only Son, Jesus Christ.

Leslie and Lee Strobel (for real)

This Christian film was very timely, not only for the Lenten Season or Easter, but for all of us. Here in the Philippines, we have been experiencing earthquakes, aftershocks and tremors. And to tell you the truth, while we were watching the premiere of this movie, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 occurred somewhere in Batangas (province) and we were all got irked by it and contacted our loved ones immediately. With all those occurrence of the natural phenomenons all across the globe, why don't we think and re-assess ourselves, we should repent and think what we have been missing and not doing in our lives which we ought to do religiously. We now have come to a realization that the Almighty God is really with us, we just all have to be tapped on and tell ourselves, "What are we doing with our lives?" "Are we living the way real Christian do?" "As children of God, do we really live up to it?" Go on now, ask ourselves... hope you could watch this film for it'll help you with life's realizations.

An ideal Easter-season movie for anyone who has pondered the existence of God and what role He could play in their lives from Pure Flix Entertainment, the people behind the 2014 box-office hit God's Not Dead
Starring Mike Vogel (Cloverfield, The Help), Ericka Christensen (Flightplan Parenthood TV Series), Faye Dunaway (Chinatown), and Robert Forster (Jackie Brown, Olympus Has Fallen) and directed by Jon Gunn.
"The Case for Christ"  opened in Philippine cinemas last April 7, 2017 from Rafaella Films International.

ALFONSO OSSORIO: “GRAZING LIGHT”

Once more. Leon Gallery has been privileged to be the venue for the art of Alfonso Ossorio, the best internationally  known Fil-American artist to emerge mid-century. Although Ossorio  grew up and was educated in England and the United States, his family was nonetheless well-ensconced in Philippine business circles. His father, Don Miguel Ossorio founded Victorias Milling Corporation which, at that time, was the most modern sugar refinery in the Philippines. His mother, Ma. Paz Yangco hailed from the family whose successful  shipping company was known as the “ King of the Pasig.” One of his close relatives, Teodoro Yangco, set up Yangco Market in Divisoria.

Ossorio himself was among the first artists from the school of abstract expressionism, a modern art movement that started in New York, and is said to have unseated Paris as the capital of modern art then. His colleagues included Jackson Pollock ( the most famous), Clifford Stills, Mark Rothko, Willhelm de Kooning, among others.

Surprisingly, ittle was known of Ossorio here in the Philippines until recently, despite the fact that his biggest work is permanently displayed as the sanctuary centerpiece at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Victorias, Negros Occidental, right in the middle of the sugar mill compound.

From April 21 to May 12,  nineteen of Alfonso Ossorio’s works will be on exhibit, with representative works from 1942 to 1989. From his early drawings of impeccable draghtsmanship to his wildly colorful “congregations,” Ossorio’s work is a study of meticulously applied scholarship rendered in well-researched material.

Alfonso Ossorio:” Grazing Light” attempts to re-examine in exhibtition, his process in his art and life in this exciting and intriguing collection from the Frederic Ossorio Family Collection.

ALFONSO OSSORIO: GRAZING LIGHT will run at Leon Gallery, ground floor Corinthian Plaza, Paseo de Roxas cor Gamboa St. Salcedo Village, Makati from April 21 to May 12, 2017. Gallery hours are from 11am to 6 pm.
Curatorial guided tours by appointment only.

Goodah!!! offers BBM : Sinigang na Boneless Bangus sa Miso

Goodah!!! has new Lenten food offering, it's the Sinigang na Boneless Bangus sa Miso

Filipinos love to eat! And here in the Philippines, we are all fond of this kind of fish called "bangus" or otherwise known as milkfish. As it name implies, bangus has a milky and creamy taste that everyone always look forward to eat despite the fact that it has lots of bones.

But this time, Goodah!!! has made our dining experience more convenient by offering us this Lenten season, their Boneless Bangus. It was prepared into four equal cuts, fried to crispy perfection with bunch of veggies like kangkong (water spinach), raddish, red tomatoes, okra, string beans and green finger chili. Ohhh of course not to forget the soury and flavorful miso soup especially made by Goodah!!!

Bangus or milkfish is one versatile fish. We could just fry it plainly or marinate it with vinegar, crushed garlic, pepper, salt and a little sugar to taste then split it open (daing) then fry, we can even have it stuffed (rellenong bangus), smoked (tinapa), and of course have it cooked like Sinigang. Taking out the bones out was quite a tough act that's why, I am so happy that Goodah!!! has made this Sinigang na Boneless Bangus sa Miso. It's also perfect for this Lenten season when meat dishes are limited for thosr who are fasting or abstaining.

PAIRING

Lenten season or not, Goodah!!!'s new dish BBM or the Sinigang na Boneless Bangus sa Miso can be best paired to another Goodah!!!'s well-love Lumpiang Shanghai and plain rice!

This is what I call Goodah-rrific!!!

The Sinigang na BBM (Boneless Bangus Miso) is only Php199.00 for ala Carte and if you're dining with your family or friends of 2-3, you can avail it for Php229.00 with rice and drinks included! Such a recommendation, you get to eat savory Filipino dish at a very reasonable price. For now, this new dish will be running and offered in all seven Goodah!!! branches for around three months or it depends.

Enjoy eating amazing peeps!!!

Boy Abunda

Goodah!!! continues to treat Filipinos to culinary discoveries with this new "Sinigang sa Miso Boneless Bangus," much like their recent popular food offerings: Krispy, Crispy Pata and Bulalugaw. And Goodah!!! has been doing this for more than 30 years, as seen in their coined acronym dishes  like Tapsilog, Tosi, Longsi and many others that have become a ubiquitous part of popular Filipino meals today--- and each one is "Pagkaing Good for Every-All."

Hope you could watch this  video  recorded during the BBM intimate launch.

Who will be the next Mister Philippines?

The dashing Bachelors of Mister Philippines 2017

Patriotic, educated and fit. These are the main characteristics that Mister Philippines is looking for. The modest male pageant is now on its eight year, founded by Dr. Joseph Pallera in 2010, this has been the country's most credible and SEC-registered national presenter of Mister Philippines.

It is the leading search for the next Global icon of Filipino Manhood, putting up a brand new image and standards to the male pageantry in our nation.

Dr. Joseph Pallera, founder of Mister Philippines Inc. and cosmetic surgeon by profession

The presentation of the Mister Philippines 2017 bachelors happened just recently at Musicbox in Timog, Quezon City. It was very refreshing to witness the fine and should I say, good-looking candidates in person. Of course, crowd favorites are always there and I'd like to declare my two bets, Joshua Banatin from Los Baños, Laguna and Denver Hernandez from the Filipino Community of Italy, he looks similar to Deither Ocampo I think.

According to the founder, since last September of last year (2016), the online screening had started, and from 28 bachelors, it was trimmed down to 24. His team even quoted as the best batch they have. "I'm very happy kasi, the batch this year is very okay and 'wala kang itulak kabigin sa kanila.' I hope kung pwede lang manalo lahat," Dr. Parilla stated in our interview.

The Mister Philippines Inc. 2017 Bachelors

One of Mister Philippines 2017 bachelors Joshua Banatin from Los Baños, Laguna.

These 24 bachelors will vie for the titles of:

Mr. Global that will happen in Thailand
Mr. Universe that will take place in Dominican Republic
Mr. Global Teen in Thailand also and
Mr. Grand International , the first of its kind so this will take place here in the Philippines.

The grand coronation of Mister Philippines is in cooperation with Angeles City Tourism Council since it will be held at Systems Plus College Foundation in Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga on April 7, 2017.

Good luck to all the bachelors and may all the deserving ones get to bring home the coveted titles!

Matching Mikael Daez's taste buds

Getting to know Mikael Daez's lighter side

We've onlu known Mikael Daez as an actor, host, model, traveler, blogger/vlogger and an enthusiast. But this time, we got to know him even better and discover the lighter, more jolly, precise and candid side of him.

It all happened during one sunny aftie at Carnival Food Park in Marikina City. There were a lot of firsts that occurred to me that day. Food parks are a huge fad nowadays and Filipinos really love to eat so, they are always a big hit! I commend the awesome team of GMA Artist Center, Ira, Rochelle and Janica for bringing us there. It was my first time and there were lots of food stalls to choose from.

Carnival Food Park in Marikina City

When we were told that we'll be divided into 7 pairs and that our task is to search for the best match of food and drinks that will entice Mikael's taste and appetite, I got real excited and nervous at the same time. You see, it was also my first time to participate in a food challenge with a celebrity like Mikael as our judge, oh my it was a real pressure on our part! But nonetheless, after interviewing him and knowing his real kind of food and what he actually digs, we proceeded for the search.

Meet my food buddy/hunter/co- blogger Edward Santos

Officially, the hunt that will match Mikael's taste buds is on! At first, we were looking for Beef Caldereta because that was the very first thing that had stuck in my mind when he mentioned it during the interview. Then we came across "Kuxina." I guess it was the smallest stall situated at that food park.

Kuxina

We decided to choose an all-Pinoy food pairing to match Mikael's mood, and we are truly aware that he is quite adventurous when picking up with the kind of food he eats since he's also a food blogger, but still we opted not to get a should I say, exotic or unusual food and drinks.

We just wanted to make Mikael feel like he's home eating his not so late lunch and not too early for dinner meal. Do you wanna see what we got for him?

There's Sisig Roll, TAPALENG, Banana Boat and Watermelon smoothie

We were given a Php 500.00 budget to furnish everything and it turned out, we still got a change of Php 105.00, isn't it amazing?! Being also a foodie, and a tapsilog lover, I just used my instinct and fortunately my food buddy Edward felt the same way too.

Mikael's munching on our food challenge entry

If you want to watch the whole video while he was trying out our entry, please click here .

To make the long story short, we won the battle yey! We finally get to match Mikael's taste buds! Oh yeah! Thank you Mikael for the fact that you appreciate what we have heartfully prepared for you and for being such a cool dude, for your patience in me since I was so "makulit" like you've mentioned in the video.

Hooray for us! That's TAPALENG (we call it Tapa ni darLeng hahaha) kidding aside, Leng is the name of the stall owner.

Please do watch and support Kapuso actor Mikael in "Legally Blind" opposite Janine Gutierrez every weekdays after "Ika-6 na Utos" over GMA Channel 7.
