Get hold of your family's health for a lifetime via Plumcare DNA Advisor

Chito Miranda, Plumcare DNA Advisor Ambassador with wife Neri Naig and son Miggy during the Plumcare DNA Advisor media launch held at EDSA Shangrila Hotel

Popular Pinoy band, "Parokya ni Edgar," lead singer, Chito Miranda, husband to actress Neri Naig and father to their son, Miguel Alfonso or Miggy has opted to sit onstage to talk about his experience or testimonies about having engaged themselves (his family) to DNA screening that is Plumcare DNA advisor.

PlumcareTM DNA Advisor can help Filipino families detect potentially disease-causing genetic variants, made possible through a thorough analysis of the DNA of each family member. Designed for families of 3 or more, the test relies on cutting-edge sequencing technology and on a wealth of big data to provide meaningful and actionable insights into a family's genetic make-up. Many hereditary diseases can be prevented or managed detected early enough.

He had briefly and enthusiastically talked about how he was convinced to submit themselves to the DNA testing. All he was thinking was the welfare of his family's health. Not just for the present condition but for a lifetime. And that's what Plumcare DNA Advisor is all about. They wanted to help us be aware and mindful of the possible diseases that our kids and future children will have to endure if ever they inherit the relatively common hereditary diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cancer, asthma among others.

Here's Chito Miranda's video of his interview during the launch please click here

Can you imagine how glorifying our life would be if we get to determine or diagnosed early those diseases that in a way we can treat or manage and somehow make a step to prevent the onset of such hereditary diseases. In my own opinion, if only I have the enough funding, and this Plumcare DNA Advisory was available then when I gave birth to my son, I could've also submitted myself into this kind of procedure. I won't mind spending an amount of Php145,000 (for the price of three pax) if all it takes is to having a safe future and peace of mind for a lifetime with my family.

How is DNA sequencing Done?
PlumCare DNA Advisor uses whole Exome Sequencing (wES), which effectively maps out the exact composition or sequence of approximately 20,000 genes where nearly 85% of disease-causing DNA variations are found.

This is done by collecting DNA from adults and children above the age of 6 years old using a saliva tube which is included in the collection kit. Collection from children younger than 6 years old will be done using a swab sponge.

The test specimens are then sent to the high-quality and reliable genetic testing laboratory in the US, where PlumCare is based, with results available within 60 days after receipt of sample by the US Lab. Genetic counsellors are then available to give advice to help you make the necessary lifestyle adjustment or preventive care.

Don Lee Arm-Wrestles his Way Back to His Glory Days in “Champion”

“The seed of the film was planted with a simple thought – it would be fun to see actor Don Lee (Ma Don-Seok) arm wrestle,” said Champion director Kim Yong-wan. He did showcase his strength in his previous films like The Outlaws and the worldwide hit Train to Busan but Don Lee won’t be just flexing his muscles in the sports comedy film, he will also work his charms to the audience through the story.
For Mark (Don Lee), arm wrestling is the only thing he has. A Korean adoptee who is able to lift ginormous dumbbells with extreme ease. Thanks to his impressive strength, he competed as an arm wrestler at a national level in the USA, but was kicked out of the league because of an issue. He now works as club bouncer, and a grocery store security, until a friend calls him with an opportunity to get his life back. This also meant going back to his country Korea. Little did he know, he’s not only getting his arm wrestling life back, but he also gets to meet his sister and her family. With their support, he challenges himself to become a champion.

From Train to Busan, The Outlaws, Veteran, Familyhood and the upcoming sequel to Along with the Gods, actor Don Lee (Ma Dong-Seok) always emobodied his characters with creative twists that only he’s able to pull off. In Champion, he has transformed into Mark, an arm wrestler whose forearm reacts faster than his heart and aims to surprise his fans once again.
Mark’s partner-in-crime Jin-ki is played by Kwon Yul, who started in Roaring Currents, The Hunt and The Worst Woman. Mark’s sister Su-jin, who has to juggle between running her business and taking care of her kids, is played by The Hunt and Worst Woman star HAN Ye-ri.

A
The film is directed by Kim Yong-wan who began his career in the industry as an assistant director on several notable films such as Harmony (2009) and Quick (2011) which also had a Philippine release.
“Champion” opens in Philippine cinemas on May 30 from Warner Bros Pictures, distributed by Rafaella Films International.

Honoring my Mom's Resiliency #TibayNiNanay

This is me kissing my Mom Tessie... Thank you Mama for everything! I love you so much!

“A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dates all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path.” ―Agatha Christie

"Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength." - Christopher Reeves

I guess there's no amount of words and gestures one can describe best the queen of our home, our mother. For my mom, it wasn't that easy for her raising all four of us with me, being the eldest. Back in the haydays, we belong to the so-called "middle class," family. We studied in a very prestigious Catholic School.  Our father was a good provider, he let my mom finish her college degree when I was about 10 years old. After which, she tried working for an insurance company but that did not last that long, for my dad suggested on her staying at home instead and be a full-time housewife.

My dad had thought of having a small business at home, so as to keep my mom busy (I guess), and not be bored, we had a buy and sell of used and brand new refrigerators, you know during that time, it was a big hit and people come to visit our house filled with those refs, and I saw that my mom and dad, they had worked real hard as a team. And oh, by the way, my father has a stable job too, that time. Why am I telling you all these? You will know eventually..

Almost every weekend of every month, my family and sometimes with some of our relatives and friends, we go to Calamba, Laguna, specifically in Pansol. We grew up having religiously visiting the resorts there and one of our fave was the  La Vista, they were the first ones to build this very long "Bukal" or hotspring. My mom told us that the reason why dad wants us to enjoy swimming and doing out of town trips was, he wanted us to experience everything what he was deprived of when he was a kid.

La Vista Pansol, Calamba, Laguna (CTO: privatereswimmingpool.com)

This is the present (innovated and rennovated) view of La Vista. Before, they only have private rooms with private pool which I used to dive in, I was so brave then, it was about 10 ft., you choose two options, slide in or dive in from a diving board, about 15 ft above the pool level and I chose two haha :) then there was the very long stretch of pool (Bukal)
with a very very hot water since they say the water comes directly from the Sierra Madre mountain. Ohh memories, they always keep us alive!

Come August of 1986, our beloved father had left us. He had joined God, our Creator.  It was not a smooth goodbye... it was so sudden that until now, I can still recall the very scene when my mom had confirmed to all of us that our daddy was already gone. He left us when it was exactly twelve days to go before my 15th birthday. That was such a very memorable yet saddening birthday I had in my entire living. If I only knew, I could've wished for an extension of his life with us, so that we could all be happy and complete... but that's life, as they say. When it's time, it's time...

After everything that had happened, what's left with us was we still all have each other. It was that critical moment when there was nothing you could do but to rely and depend on each other, show love and give comfort. Make each other feel that there's still hope and that there will always be a rainbow after every storm. But someone has to stand up and be brave.. and that was actually our loving mother.

My mom, our Ms. Universe and our Superwoman ( photo taken present time)

My father had left us his insurance policy and fortunately, we have a relative who did all the paperworks and helped us get through with it. From there, my mom started to figure out things and she invested in a P.O. business, in Uniwide Supermarket but that one didn't go well, she was tricked by one of her clients, whom she trusted and went away with a huge amount of unpaid P.O.'s . Can you imagine the burden that my mom has to endure and carry that time, the three of us were still going to a private school our youngest sibling was only two years old then when our dad passed away.

She had engaged herself into a lot opportunities just to make both ends meet. She also got into direct sellings, Avon, Amway, Barclay, Sara Lee... name it! She had it all! While she was struggling, being the eldest among my three siblings, I also wanted to do my part. I did a home-made "Yema" and sold it to my classmates during college but in a secretive manner since I am pretty aware that the school doesn't encourage that kind of activity. There were even those low times that all we had in our pockets was exactly for our jeepney fare. We had to go and hurry back home to eat our lunch, our regular meal all through out the day and almost everyday-- the famous GG or Galunggong, because that kinda fit our budget. :)

( I am feeling so melancholic while writing this right now) pardon me... I am not used to speaking and telling our dark past but today, I feel it's the right time so anyone who got the chance to read this, I dunno... I hope they will be inspired and appreciate everything what they have and the people around you most especially our mother.

CTO: businessdiary.com.ph

This "Daing na Galunggong" played an a very important part in our dining table before and it used to really fill us up as in regularly. Thanks to former President Corazon Aquino (RIP) because during her reign, she made sure that the price of the Galunggong fish was that affordable most especially for the masses and the majority of the Filipino families.

Have you ever been in pawnshops before? Well, I did. Many many times. My unforgettable incident in this place was, when mom had decided to let go of her most fave diamond ring which our dad had given to her as a gift. I can still remember how hard it was for her when she decided to had it pawned for us to be able to pay our tuition fees. My mom's courage was unexplainable I don't know where did she get it actually.

In her pursuit of finding a real good opportunity to earn and give us a living, she had also engaged herself into being a real estate agent. She come home late at night feeling real exhausted but still manages to keep up with us. Although we could really see and feel how exhausted she was, when she's at home and with us, everything seemed so good and we could really feel how she cares for us. She had also a sideline which was an agent of a house alarm system and I tell yah, she actually did well on selling huh?! I guess, my mom was well-trained by my dad, when we had the buy and sell business.

To make my long story short, my mom's resilience, perseverance, courage, dependability and being optimistic plus prayers, were all been paid off. I graduated from college with a degree in BS Physical Therapy, my two sisters were Nursing graduates, my brother is currently working and is residing in United States. We all have our respective families now.

We were happily spending our Christmas season in Baguio City. This was taken December, 2012. Mom was wearing the red (her fave color)  bonnet.

Today, mom is happily living with my siblings and grandchildren in  U.S. Only me, my son and my youngest sister and her family were the ones left here in the Philippines.

Although we terribly miss her everyday, we are at peace that she is in very good hands, my siblings are taking care of her and love her very much. See how fate's been playin' with us? As they always say, we all have our ups and downs, it's up to us to make the decisions and undertakings we think what's best for everyone. And I am so proud and very honored to say, that my mom has made her best decision and great job in raising all of us, down to her grandchildren. She may not have a partner in life (by choice), she says we are just enough for her. We are her lovelife. :) *wink wink

It's really a no joke for us parents, raising our kids. What they have become, depends on what kind of parent you are. If they fail, we fail double time. Their success is our triumph too. Motherhood is a lifetime commitment with no salary compensations at all, no vacation leave and we should also be mindful of our health because, if we get sick, they are at lost, do you agree? :) So can you imagine the importance of our moms in our lives? I would like to share with you this video created by Orocan Ph,  about a mother  #TibayNiNanay  . This has inspired me a lot, that's why I am here writing a part of my life story for you amazing peeps. I hope after watching this, you get to also express gratitude and honor your moms too!

*From the moment we first opened our eyes, to our first steps, to our first words, and the million other milestones that came after, they were there. At every high and every low of our lives, they have supported us, protected us, and loved us with no question. This Mother’s Day, Orocan celebrates the strength and dependability of all our Nanays, Inas, Moms, and Mamas. Nothing really compares with the TibayNiNanay.

Vivo’s trailblazing smartphone developments that stunned the tech world

The competition in the mobile industry can be very stiff with new technology coming out one right after the next. But global smartphone brand Vivo has outplayed its competitors with innovations that made a mark in the mobile industry.

1. Over 20-MP front cameras
The world has been obsessed with taking selfies to document one’s everyday life or the most cherished moments. But for years, not all smartphone brands took a special interest in developing their front cameras. Vivo, working hard to understand its patrons, revolutionized the selfie game when it came out with a 20-megapixel dual front camera in V5 Plus. It is the first smartphone brand to do so, and now others are trying hard to catch up.

Taking better selfies and photos has never been easier with Vivo phones.

It was then followed up by the whopping 24-MP front camera in V7, V7+, and the V9, proving that Vivo never stops pushing the limits in perfecting the features that matter most to its patrons. In fact, Vivo V7+ was hailed as the best selfie phone in 2017 by many tech blogs and sites.

2. Bezel-less screens
Aside from its selfie-centric developments, Vivo is also a leader in enhancing every patron’s screen display experience.

The future is not too far away with Vivo’s concept smartphone, APEX™ FullView™, with a nearly 100% screen-to-body ratio.

Vivo at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona, Spain last February revealed a concept phone called the APEX™ FullView™. It features a typical 5.99-inch screen, but its screen-to-body ratio nearly reaches 100%. This proves that Vivo is committed to producing a genuine bezel-less smartphone in the market.

In fact, its newest flagship smartphone, the V9, is getting closer to Vivo’s ultimate goal—it boasts of a 90% screen-to-body ratio with its 6.3-inch FullView™ Display.

3. In-display fingerprint scanner
These innovative developments may be enough for some but Vivo does not want to be the second best. It is also a pioneer in developing ultramodern yet convenient unlocking methods. Vivo has recently revealed that it has advanced the fingerprint scanning method by making the technology available on a screen. It debuted the first ready-to-produce in-display fingerprint scanning solution at the Consumer Electronics Show 2018 in Las Vegas last January.

Another Vivo’s first: The in-display fingerprint scanning technology is ready for commercial distribution worldwide.

Vivo is also the first ever smartphone brand that dedicated a Hi-Fi quality audio chip in its models, making it the first brand that gave proper attention to its handsets’ sound quality.

This is quite a lot of achievements for Vivo, especially in an industry that is unforgiving to those slow to innovate. In fact, these developments Vivo introduced have earned the smartphone brand a spot among the trailblazers. And, it seems like the global smartphone company will not slow down on its pursuit of perfection anytime soon.

About Vivo
A global smartphone brand focused on introducing perfect sound quality and ultimate photography with cutting-edge technology, Vivo develops innovative and stylish products for young people. We now have over two hundred million users and are one of the preferred brands of young people around the world. As an Official Sponsor of the FIFA World Cup™, Vivo believes in the importance of encouraging young people to embrace self-expression and an energetic lifestyle. In the Philippines, Vivo is the top 3 smartphone brand in terms of market share with 1.5 million users nationwide.

Bid Farewell to Lice with Kwell Shampoo

"Kuto Farewell with Kwell"

One of the primary worries of being a parent is that having discovered that our child is inflicted with lice or "Kuto" in Tagalog. As we all know, having those is not actually healthy physically and psychologically for the affected individuals.

If we happen to see our kids continuously or intermittently scratching their heads we all feel alarmed right?! Then we instantly do an occular of their scalps and hair. So what do we usually do, upon discovering that they're  positive with head lice and nits (lice eggs)?

A head louse can survive up to 4 weeks on a person's head and lay 10 eggs a day. Since that means lice can multiply fast, it's a good idea to treat head lice quickly.

PCTO : kidshealth.org

They spread from person to person when people's heads touch or after sharing things like hats and other clothing, combs, brushes, headbands, or barrettes. Lice can live up to 2 days without feeding on a person, so you also can get lice from pillowcases, sheets, blankets, sleeping bags, and other bedding.

So the much better way of avoiding ang preventing lice is to try not to keep in close contact like a head to head contact with anyone most especially with suspected lice and nits on their hair. Strictly no sharing of combs, brushes, hats, scarves, ties, ribbons, clips, helmets and other personal items.

I know maybe some of you are aware of these home remedies I am going to share:

A. We use "suyod" or a kind of comb that's very fine to to sweep away all those lice and nits harboring on their heads. Very conventional, right?!

B. Have you also ever tried using or applying vinegar? They say it loosens up the nits.

C.They say if you coat the hair with a petroleum jelly, olive oil or mayonnaise and leave it overnight under a showercap, it helps too. But can you imagine how greasy and unsightly it could be most especially for our kids?

And now, I wanna share with you one sure thing to get rid of those lice and nits!

Kwell Shampoo by Aspen Philippines

When it comes to lice treatment, there is Permethrin (Kwell) Shampoo, the medicated shampoo for the treatment of head lice and their eggs (kuto at lisa) and prevention for those at risk.

How to use Permethrin (Kwell) Shampoo:

Wet the Hair
Shake the bottle/open the sachet. Place an ample amount of Permethrin (Kwell) shampoo and lather it in the hair thoroughly. Make sure that all parts of the head, hair and scalp and even the back of the ears and neck are treated.
Leave for 10 minutes and wash thoroughly after.
Dry the hair by using a towel.

Special Precautions: Avoid contact w/ eyes
or mucous membranes. May cause skin
irritation, allergic reaction & local skin
reactions (contact dermatitis). Not for
prophylactic/regular use. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly >70 yr.
Availability: 10mL sachet, 30mL Bottle,
60mL Bottle

If other members of the family have lice, treat them as well with Permetrhin (Kwell) to avoid the spread of lice.

Permethrin (Kwell) also is more economical. Use it once to get rid of lice then repeat after 7 days to make sure that no nits have been left and that’s it. No need to do maintenance washes.

Kaya, Dito ka na sa Aprubado! Sa Permethrin (Kwell), Isang Hugas. Kuto Todas!

Aspen Philippines, a subsidiary of Aspen Pharmacare Holdings Limited, is Africa’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturer and the biggest listed pharmaceutical group in the healthcare sector of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Aspen Philippines aims to make high-quality branded medicines available to Filipino patients at affordable cost.

In the Philippines, Aspen Consumer Healthcare’s portfolio includes Permethrin (Kwell) for head lice & scabies; Dequalinium Chloride (Dequadin) for sore throat; Valda Pastilles for soothing & cooling the throat; and Bio-Oil for scar, stretchmark and uneven skin tone.

As part of their healthcare services, they reach out to consumers in various touch points to share their products’ offerings.  They conduct nationwide school, community and industrial tours to create health awareness among Filipinos and their families.

Kwell Shampoo visited Brgy. Calero in Malolos, Bulacan headed by Mr. Ace T. Itchon, CEO-Aspen Philippines and Vice Mayor Gilbert Gatchalian last January 19, 2018.

One of Aspen’s healthcare programs called “ Kwella sa Es-Kwella at Komunidad”  was established in 2013 as a response to the Dept. of Education’s (DepEd) need for information campaign on proper hygiene and treatment for pediculosis (head lice). For the past 4 years, Aspen Philippines has conducted series of educational tours.  In 2017, they have visited 630 schools, participated by about 12,000 students, teachers, school staff and parents.

In 2015, Aspen Philippines was awarded by Aspen Asia the Asia’s Community Involvement Award for their delousing activity of 150 children in Barangay Barangka, Mandaluyong City. Permethrin (Kwell) is the Number One head lice treatment certified by IMS Health.

The above program was institutionalized by Aspen Philippines as a result of the 2012 DepEd & University of the Philippines (UP) statistics which revealed that pediculosis (head lice) is ranked as the 2nd most common ailment among public school children aged 7-12 years old.  Based on DepEd data, almost 9M or 84% of students are afflicted with head lice.

While it seems like a small problem, pediculosis presents a negative impact on children’s self- confidence.  It is one of the causes of absenteeism, loss of concentration, attentiveness and poor academic performance. That is why it is imperative that we treat them right away and make our kids enjoy school without the worry of lice.

Watch Riva Quenery as she revs up the stage via "RiVlog Live!" at the SM Skydome

Before, it was just a dream... but now, everything seems to come at the right place and at the right time for this very candid and bubbly girl, Riva Quenery.

She was a former member of the popular girl group called "Girltrends," who regularly dance in ABS-CBN's noontime show, "It's Showtime." Things have been different from her when she started to do vlogging. After quite sometime, she had earned the Silver Play Button award in YouTube for garnering 100K subscribers, and now, another great news, she already has 400k plus subscribers!

Riva Quenery poses before my cam during her "RiVlog Live" concert blogcon

In celebration of her 20th birthday, "RiVlog Live,"  will serve as her birthday concert to be held at the Skydome in SM North Edsa on May 27, 2018. Kasi para rin ito yun sa mga sumusuporta sakin na kapag pinanood nila ang concert ko para rin silang nanonood ng vlogs ko ng live,” she explained. The pretty and talented celebrity vlogger has also shared to us that, every birthday celebration that she has, she sees to it that she caters to the needs of the less fortunate kids at the "Tahanang Mapagkalinga ni Madre Rita."

Riva wants you!

“Every birthday ko, I make sure na tumutulong ako sa mga street children.  Parang naging advocacy ko na siya. Parang naisip ko rin na, what better way to celebrate it than to make my supporters happy and share it with less fortunate kids,” she said.

While we were having a great chat with this amazing lass, I can really sense her big heart and authenticity. Her unique and pleasant character makes her more charming than the rest of her contemporaries. That's why she really promised to all the viewers who'll attend and support her birthday concert that, they will feel like they're watch her live vlog while performing on stage. Hmmm...  can you imagine how exciting and fun her concert would be?

Fashionable and chic Riva!

According to her, she's going to have 12 costume changes ( approximately) during her concert.  Joining her on the show are her close friends composed of her close friends in the business Krissha Viaje and Sammie Rimando, as well as Hashtags member Zeus Collins and FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano star Awra Briguela at Maris Racal.

“Pinaka-excited ako sa mga bagong genre na gagawin ko, kasi may mga gagawin ako sa concert na hindi ko talaga nagagawa before. Excited ako to explore new things para sa mga taong sumusuporta sakin kasi matagal na nila itong hinihingi sakin,”” said Riva, who hopes to encourage more performers of her age to just keep dreaming and working hard for it because they can eventually come true—just like what is about to happen to her.

The candid Riva Quenery

We've learned from Riva, during our interview that she still wants to pursue her Dentistry  course if given the right chance and timing because she still wants to make her parents be more proud of her and she's perfectly aware that seeing their kids go down the aisle and march during graduation is every parent's dream.

Going to her personal life, raving Riva even admitted that as of the present, she's not committed to anyone and that nobody's courting her. And she jokes about wishing for a boyfriend :) She is really fun to talk with, actually. When asked about her former best friend and also a her co-member of GirlTrends before, the young actress Barbie Imperial, she said that "This year, nung nakapag-usap kami nung talagang kami lang, dun ko na-feel na 'ah nakaka-miss 'yung friendship namin,' hanggang nagkakausap kami sa phone, naisip ko na, 'okay na talaga kami,' wala na talagang bara sa heart ko na talagang alam ko na okay na ko, pag nakikita ko s'ya sa tv, napapanood ko s'ya sa "Araw Gabi," dun ko talaga nakita na proud talaga ako sa mga na-achieve n'ya, kasi kilala ko s'ya sobrang hard-working n'ya abd lahat nang meron s'ya ngayon sobrang deserve n'ya." She's also happy to announce that Barbie will also come and watch her birthday concert this Sunday.

Dancing has always been Riva’s passion, as seen on the countless dance covers on her vlog, and the fact that she was tapped to be part of It’s Showtime’s GirlTrends. One of her biggest dancing feats happened just last month, after becoming part of the local hip-hop dance group, Power Impact. Riva and the dance crew’s rigorous trainings and long hours eventually paid off as they placed third under the Team Division at the World of Dance Manila 2018.  She is also set to compete for World Dance Competition na gaganapin sa Los Angeles California.

Viva International Pictures and MVP Entertainment present "Show Dogs" in Cinemas today!

This movie directed by Raja Gosnell (The Smurfs, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Never Been Kissed, Home Alone 3) centers on Max, a Rottweiler police dog who has to go undercover for a mission against animal traffickers.  Much to his annoyance, he is partnered with Frank, an accomplished FBI agent who considers this assignment a little bit beneath him.

With no choice but to work together, Max and Frank set off to Las Vegas for the world’s most exclusive dog show where Max will act as a contestant.  They must retrieve a stolen baby panda and rescue other animals from illegal animal traders with the help of other canines, such as Sprinkles, Philippe, Karma, Dante, and Daisy.

Max is voiced by actor and Grammy Award-winning rap artist Ludacris.  According to producer Deepak Nayar, “We needed somebody who has New York tough accent, so Ludacris is the one we wanted to play the tough dog.”

Comedic actor Will Arnett (Arrested Development, Monsters vs. Aliens, The LEGO Movie, LEGO Batman), who plays Frank, is a dog-lover in real life.  He says that he immensely enjoyed working with Que (the Rottweiler playing the role of Max), although he “tends to slobber a lot.”  Arnett elaborates in his interview on SocialNews.XYZ, “Oftentimes between takes, he likes to lean into me and I’ll scratch him and all of a sudden he’ll start to drool, so I have to borrow a rag and his trainer is always wiping his mouth.”

Producer Philip Von Alvensleben calls it “a stroke of luck” that they got Arnett to play Frank, whom he describes as “a classic FBI agent - lots of attitude, (and thinks) he knows everything.” He commends the actor for being “extremely funny and spontaneous and fresh.”  He adds, “He’s someone that we haven’t seen in a role like this too much.  It is enjoyable to see him interact with the dog and the rest of the cast.”

Animal trainer Mike Alexander reveals that their intention was to do everything they could with the real dogs, so there were times that they had to tweak the script.  “If something (in the script) reads not quite as realistic and there’s something we can do with the dog that’s close to that, then we shoot that.”

To condition the dogs to perform, a typical day on set consists of activities such as “a game of ball and a nice walk”.  Alexander continues, “The script is really full of dog action…especially for the Rottweiler. We’ve had several attacking scenes…we have him biting an arm, a leg, and that’s been challenging, but a lot of fun.”

Show Dogs features the voices of Shaquille O’Neal as Karma, Stanley Tucci (Devil Wears Prada) as Philippe, Alan Cumming as Dante, Gabriel Iglesias as Sprinkles, and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks as Daisy, the love interest of Max.  It also stars Natasha Lyonne (American Pie) as Mattie, a dog groomer tasked with assisting Frank and Max to blend into a show dog world.

A movie for the whole family that shows the value of trust and teamwork, Show Dogs promises to be “a tail you won’t forget.”
