"Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote at si Ako:" The Newest Tandem to Beat

After two years, Vic Sotto (Enteng Kabisote) and Bong Revilla Jr. (Agimat) has once again teamed up to join their stellar powers. Breaking all the box-office records in the Metro Manila Film Fest (MMFF) in the year 2010, it has always been a challenge for "Enteng Kabisote" series director Tony Y. Reyes to outdo the last one and for him, it's the hardest to tackle. "That's when the name of Ms. Judy Ann Santos came in. We now have not just one, not two, but three box- office giants in one movie," direk said.

During the movie's Bloggers' Night, "Bossing" Vic describes Juday who plays Princess Angelina Kalinisan Orteza (AKO) since this is their first time to do a movie together, "Juday has been my friend for quite sometime, nakakasama namin si Juday pag may mga bonding- bonding ng "Bulaga," mga "Dabarkads" (barkada), hindi na s'ya iba sa akin, but it's my first time to work with her, and in this movie, I've found out kung bakit marami s'yang tagahanga, kung bakit maraming nag-aadulate sa kanya. Ngayon naiintindihan ko na after working with her for more than four months. Nakita ko 'yung how she deals with people, how she is with her fans, how she is with her crew, how she is with her co- actors... magaling, magaling na tao, mahusay.

Vic "Bossing" Sotto during the movie's Blogger's Night

In the story, Juday leads an environmental advocacy organization from the high tech- yuppie Kingdom of Diwatara. This film is definitely a real treat for the whole family, especially the kids that will surely enjoy this year's sequel of "Enteng." As the fun triples, so is the adventure and thrill as the leaders are confronted with high-tech villains from out of their worlds: Cannibal tribes of the Tokatoks and filthy alien monsters. Witness unparalleled battle stunts set in the Philippines' never-before-seen destinations as Agimat, equipped with his one-of-a-kind sword; Enteng and his comic fighting style; and Princess Angelina, in her mystical bird alter ego, win the battle of good against evil.

The magical adventure never stops as Aiza Seguerra brings also her comic modern Fairy sidekicks Pink Kapre Che (John Lapus), Winged Horse Sol (Yassi Pressman) and computer whiz dwarf Chichay (Ryzza Mae Dizon) into the lives of the Kabisote's and the Muleto couple portrayed by Sam Pinto and Bong Revilla. The "Enteng ... " movie series always instills family values, friendship, love, forgiveness, peace, unity, marriage, responsibility, respect and protection to our one and only Mother Earth. This film is a joint venture of Imus Production, Octoarts Film, MZET TV & APT Entertainment and GMA Films. This is an official entry to the 2012 MMFF. Story idea by Antonio Y. Reyes and Antonio P. Tuviera with screenplay by Bibeth Orteza and Jermyn Aven Jacob.

This is absolutely something to look forward to... the newest tandem of Vic Sotto, Bong Revilla and Judy Ann Santos.

It's a real treat to the whole family and friends! Showing in theaters near you on Christmas Day, December 25, 2012.

WATCH OUT FOR “THE STRANGERS”

Every year, during the Christmas season, we always anticipate the parade of stars, the revolutionary movies, and recognition given by one of the prestigious award-giving bodies that would conclude it all.
I am talking about the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) which is now on its 38th glorious year.
This merry month of December, we could witness a different kind of film filled with suspense, horror, drama, adventure, about family ties and domestic issues. As we enter the world where nothing is ever what it seems... it’s the world of “The Strangers.” It’s Quantum Films and MJM Productions newest venture under the helm of Lawrence Anthony Fajardo, whose recent work as a director include “Posas,” – which won Best Film in the Director’s Showcase division of this year’s Cinemalaya and was also given the same recognition at the Hanoi Film Festival in Vietnam.

The Cast of "The Strangers" during their Grand Presscon

We were always told by our parents that, “Never talk to strangers” or “Beware of the strangers.” And to that effect, the plot of the story began. Putting aside their differences, a family travels out of town on the eve of the fraternal twins’ 18th birthday, namely Pat (Julia Montes) and Max (Enrique Gil). They were accompanied by their parents Roy (Johnny Revilla) and Evelyn (Cherry Pie Picache), their grandfather Pete (Jaime Fabregas) and his temporary caretaker, Paloma (Janice de Belen) and their newly-hired driver Toning (Nico Antonio) reaching a far-flung town of Murcia.

Their long journey has turned into a much unexpected nightmare for all of them. They were being haunted by their guilt and conscience resulting from the incident that their van had accidentally hit an old woman while they were on their way. Filled with fear and shaken, still, they went out of the van to check for the victim but to their surprise, the supposed body of the old woman had vanished.
Their horrifying experience had then begun having reached a small village; they were trapped in a strange place.... full of STRANGERS.

This film also stars JM de Guzman and Enchong Dee who said, “First film naming tatlo (referring to Julia and Enrique), to have a film in the MMFF. Ike-claim ko na ang galing namin dito. Sure ako doon kahit di ko pa napapanood ng buo ‘yung pelikula, kasi alam ko na binigay namin ang lahat ng makakaya namin habang ginagawa namin s’ya.”

Watch out for "The Strangers" in theaters near you coming on Christmas Day, December 25, 2012.

Goya: The Chocolate every Filipino loves

There was a quote that says“chocolates are made of cacao beans, and bean is a vegetable and that sugar that makes chocolates sweet came from either sugar cane or sugar beets, and since both are plants they would be in the vegetable category, therefore chocolate is a vegetable.” If this is really true, then hooray goes for those who love chocolates!

Well, hold your horses, chocoholics and vegans. Before you jump for joy or go up in arms, this is just a little twist of logic to give humor to a universally loved concoction that has withstood the test of time. Whatever your race, religious or political beliefs, or social and economic status, chocolate—in whatever state—will always be chocolate and should be loved by all and be thankful for.

And the Philippines is definitely not an exception. A nation recognized for its love for chocolates, it certainly is not left behind in the global and continuously evolving love for chocolate. This is thanks in large part to Delfi Foods, Inc., maker of “Goya” and other delicious chocolatey treats that ensures that this love affair between chocolates and Filipinos will continue towards eternity.

With flavors like Goya Milk Chocolates, Dark Chocolates, Cookies & Cream, Krispy Krunch, Goya Almonds, Goya Almonds and Raisins, Goya Splendor and Goya Pretzel Twists, Filipino chocolate aficionados will surely be  happy munching on them.

Man’s love affair with chocolate has certainly surpassed and evolved tremendously throughout several centuries and industrial revolutions. From the time of the Mayans and Aztecs, to the efforts of Spanish explorer Hernando Cortez and the discovery of “praline” by the French, the first chocolate-making factory in the US where the modern chocolate bar was introduced, to the day that chocolate was given a smoother and finer texture, thanks to a revolutionary machine, man still continues with its relationship with chocolate. It has now become a ubiquitous part of peoples’ and nations’ lives, whether as a glorious drink or as an emotionally fulfilling chocolate bar.

This month, Delfi Foods, Inc., maker of Goya, pays tribute to the true originators of chocolates. Without their pioneering contribution to man’s sweet palate, the people of the world would never have known chocolates—and Filipinos would never have known Goya.

For this holiday season, get-togethers and other festive celebrations will definitely overflow with Goya chocolates. Holiday parties will have enough supplies of Goya chocolate candies, chocolate drinks, and other choco-coated treats. Goya chocoholics of all ages will have a blast enjoying the season even more with these world-class quality chocolates many of us have grown to love.

With Goya chocolates an inarguable part of the Filipino psyche, expect the Philippines to solidify its position as a true chocolate-loving nation—and absolutely proud because Goya, a fully Filipino-made chocolate treat, is undeniably among the best in the world.

Goya products are available at major supermarkets, groceries, convenience stores nationwide. Be a Goyaholic, join us on Facebook at GoyaChocoholics.

WFP APPEALS FOR US$ 21.6M TO ASSIST VICTIMS OF TYPHOON PABLO

DAVAO CITY, PHILIPPINES – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is appealing for US$21.6 million to provide life-saving food and nutrition assistance as well as logistics support for 400,000 people who have been most affected by Typhoon Bopha (Pablo) in the worst-hit areas of  Compostela Valley, Davao Oriental, the CARAGA region, and Lanao del Sur.   WFP’s food assistance, which will run until May 2013, complements the government’s ongoing relief and early recovery operations through a single food supply pipeline, jointly managed  with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), to ensure  an efficient and coordinated response to food needs on the ground.

WFP’s assistance will include providing specialised nutritious foods to 80,000 children in the worst-affected areas and 60,000 pregnant and nursing mothers.   “One year after Tropical Storm Washi hit Northern Mindanao, WFP is again deeply saddened by the suffering and destruction caused by Typhoon Bopha.  We are working around the clock in partnership with the Government to ensure a coordinated and effective response to food and other priority humanitarian needs,” said WFP Philippines Representative and Country Director Stephen Anderson.

The DSWD has requested WFP’s support in setting up two hubs in Davao Oriental and the CARAGA region to help speed up the delivery of humanitarian assistance to communities affected by Typhoon Bopha.     As of Monday 10th December, WFP had already delivered rice and high-energy biscuits for 142,500 people and Ready-to-Use supplementary foods for 26,000 children. Thirty-eight trucks have also been deployed to help local government units deliver relief goods.

In the coming days, WFP will conduct assessments to provide the government with in-depth information on community food needs in the affected areas.   Over 5.4 million people have been affected since Typhoon Bopha hit the Philippines on December 4.  Nearly 64,000 houses have been damaged, and 370,000 people have been forced to leave their houses. Around 650 people have been confirmed dead, and 780 are still missing. For more information on the WFP’s work in the Philippines, visit http://www.wfp.org/philippines.

Garfield is an orange, fuzzy, tabby cynical cat who was born on June 19, 1978 in an Italian restaurant. He is obsessed with lasagna, coffee, and his remote control. In addition to that, he loves his nerdy owner Jon Arbuckle, the lovable dog Odie, and his girlfriend Arlene. Initially, the humorous comic strip that was created by mastermind Jim Davis was published in just 41 newspapers but it didn't take long before it became a worldwide sensation turning into the most widely syndicated comics ever. As of recent, it appears in over 2750 newspapers and is read by 263,000,000 people all across the globe. Not long after, an animated TV Show entitled “Garfield & Friends” aired on CBS-TV from 1988 to 1995. Then followed the feature films Garfield: The Movie and Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties Because of its undying success and marketability, it is only natural that Garfield has sellable merchandise. Over the years, it has sustained it’s own clothing line while at the same has done collaborations with major retail companies such as The Hundreds, a 2-part lifestyle project that houses both a clothing line and an online-magazine as well as Terranova, an Italian fast fashion brand.

This year Garfield will be hosting a fancy tea party for the kids. Loads of fun surprises are in stored that all kids are sure to enjoy! Their imaginations will definitely run wild with our arts and crafts activities. We have also prepared lots of games with exciting prizes. And of course a tea party won’t be complete without something to munch on! All these and more await our partygoers! The highlight of the event is the fashion show where we would be showcasing our latest Holiday collection. Join the celebrity kids starring Mutya Orquia (Abby) of "Be Careful With My Heart," Clarence Joshen, Goin Bulilit kids. Louise Abuel and many more wearing of course the most wanted collection in town from Garfield. on Dec 9, 2012. Expect lots of vibrant, colorful, and trendy pieces that are sure to brighten up any kid’s wardrobe. Of course these are not only stylish but also comfortable, easy to mix and match, and incredibly affordable. Would you believe that tops go for Php 350 to Php 700, bottoms for Php 700 to Php 900, and outerwear for Php 800 to Php 900?
Not only that, we are also proudly introducing for the first time our teenswear collection.

Something else to look forward to is the launch our Teen's Collection that is filled with that great spunky cattitude Garfield is known for. This just goes to prove that Garfield is really one cool cat to be hanging around with the big kids.

So we’re guessing by now, you’d like to know how you and your kid can score passes to this awesome event. Simply purchase Php 500 worth of Garfield Apparel Philippines items from any of the 5 participating SM Malls (Mall of Asia, Megamall, North Edsa, Makati or San Lazaro) or at the venue itself and present your receipt to our friendly staff at the registration booth. One receipt entitles one pass for one kid and one of his/her parents or guardians. :)

It’s so easy even someone as lazy as Garfield could do it!
It’s a date then! See you all at the Garfield Holiday Party! Good times are certainly ahead!

I Voted for My Most Favorite TV Station via Netizens' Choice Awards

This Netizen's Choice Awards had given us, bloggers the opportunity to choose our "Most Favorite TV Station." We can now be heard and make a stand for our chosen TV station from our local channels. As we can see, only three of those networks emerged as prime options namely:

ABS-CBN Channel 2 "Kapamilya" Network

GMA Channel 7 "Kapuso" Network

TV5 "Kapatid" Network

My choice for best tv station and my favorite tv station was based on some strong and valid grounds. Primarily, I was looking for a station that suits my taste, a network that promotes Filipino’s fine talents, our country’s culture with a modern twist (of course!), a station that helps us build a unified and progressive nation.

My favorite station should be brave and bold enough to conquer the world. Being the best station as it is, my bet serves as the “voice of the Filipino,” because it mirrors the life and aspirations of our countrymen. It has earned a reputation where its achievements were being critically distinguished locally and internationally. It exchanges smooth and healthy relations to the media people, media partners and all other networks. And when it comes to laying all the cards, they have unique strategies in handling and managing of their roster of talents - hands down to them. No offense meant to other networks but reality-wise, their own artists, talents, and shows were being watched and recognized not only on national tv, but also globally. Statistically, all the programs acquire the highest ratings most of the time, so, the advertisers do flock in to be able to occupy slots. Hmmm... signs of progress and success indeed! ;)

This station which I am referring to sets the “trend” in every aspect. I am fully aware how drastic and toxic the jobs of the concept and marketing teams are, basically, they must exhibit authenticity and uniqueness. Rooted by professional men and women behind this outstanding network, they work hand in hand with a primary goal, that is:

“In the service of the Filipino Worldwide”

I consider ABS-CBN Channel 2 as my family member (Kapamilya). Just like any family member, ABS-CBN displays reliability, dependability and  sensitivity; it is unbiased and balanced. Truth to tell, I'm very much confident in sharing you that, I feel at home with the "Kapamilya" channel, my
"Most Favorite Station."

What could be your most favorite tv station?
Come on, blog about it, it's time for you to be heard.

The starting point "Netizens Choice Awards" was the booming recognition on Bloggers online. Starmometer, Showbiznest and LionhearTV joined forces to bring the latest 'star awards' which will give netizens power in recognizing the hard work and excellence of celebrities and their achievements over the last year.

Nora Aunor's "Himala," Digitally Mastered, Showing in Theaters

It's been 30 years since the superstar Nora Aunor's blockbuster and critically acclaimed movie, "Himala" was last seen in Philippine Cinema's silver screen. It was in the year 1982, when multi-awarded writer Ricky Lee had thought of Ms. Nora Aunor as the only person perfect to portray the role of "Elsa," a visionary from Cupang. The film was based on a true story of a teenage girl from Cabra Island, in the province of Occidental Mindoro that happened sometime between 1966 and 1967. This is directed by national artist, the late Ishmael Bernal.

"Himala" is the first and pet project of Leo Katigbak, head of ABS-CBN Film Archives among the 3,000 plus films in the network's film vaults to be digitized and restored. The whole technical plan wouldn't be possible if not for the prime works of Central Digital Lab, Inc. headed by Manet Dayrit. The digitally mastered "Himala" had a world premiere at the prestigious 69th Venice International Film Festival last August at the Venice Lido. The technicians were believed to have worked on this historical film frame by frame for 700 hours.

Mr. Ricky Lee and Superstar Nora Aunor during the premiere of the restored version of "Himala"

Last Sunday, December 2, 2012, I had the great privilege to finally witness the restored version of this highly acclaimed film re- released by Star Cinema held at the Cinema 8 of SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City. I didn't only get to watch it; I had also seen the one and only superstar Ms. Nora Aunor and Mr. Ricky Lee in person. It was very refreshing to have known that such great personalities had appeared and exhibited warm appreciation of their supporters. The whole theater was also filled with "Noranians" and they've been screaming, cheering and been so consistent in expressing their admiration and love towards their idol, Nora Aunor.

The film encompasses man's faith and having no faith at all with its corresponding consequences. Elsa, a visionary of Virgin Mary, who'd eventually became a faith healer, was also a victim of her fellow townsmen's prejudice, covet, abuse, resentment and egocentric dispositions. Diverse life's lessons were exemplified by this movie. Harboring from this film, was Nora Aunor's very famous line:

"Walang himala!!! Ang himala ay nasa puso ng tao, nasa puso nating lahat! Tayo ang gumagawa ng mga himala! Tayo ang gumagawa ng mga sumpa at ng mga Diyos..." ("There is no miracle!!! The miracle is within everyone's hearts, within our hearts! We make the miracles! We are the ones who make curses, and the Gods...")

One of the greatest movies of all time, critically acclaimed and distinguished by prestigious film award-giving bodies both locally and internationally, the digitally restored "Himala" can now be seen in HD in selected Philippine cinemas on December 5, 2012. The film showing will run until three weeks.

What I Like and What I Can Share This Christmas

What’s your favorite Christmas song? Mine is “The Christmas Story.” Every time I hear lyrics of the song, reminds me of the Christmas spirit and I can’t help but to reminisce my childhood memories of the most awaited season of the year.

♫ “Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose, yuletide carols, being sung by a choir and folks dress up like Eskimos...”♫

And if I may ask you...what do you like for Christmas? Or is there anything that you really wanted to do this yuletide season, like sharing perhaps? If I’m to answer that, mine goes like this:

My first Christmas wish or what I like is something that is not meant for myself, it's something (product/ material) that needs to be taken or applied to acquire a positive effect. I'm talking about my 15 year old son, For several years now, we've been experimenting numerous anti-acne sets/ products for his face. He'd also undergone series of dermatologic processes. I've bought a lot of products already, be it OTC, on line, local, imported, name it. My son had also tried some traditional or natural ways hoping that it would create a good impression on his face.
My only wish for him as of now, is that may we find the right medication/ product for his acne prone skin. I am hoping that, whoever reading this blog, and has something to share or suggest, please feel-free to comment. I would greatly appreciate it!

My second wish would be

A Brand New Printer!!! Any brand will do :D

My 2 year-old printer/ scanner is dysfunctional, scanner is fine but it's having trouble with printing, it keeps on indicating that a paper was jammed but there isn't any. So, instead of having it repaired, I'd prefer to have a new one since the repair might probably cost me as much as like purchasing a brand new machine, according to some of my friends. Practicality wise, they're right and I believe them, actually :))

What I like for my Mom would be

A Gas Range Oven!

My mom's heart's desire speaks out and she's been dreading to bake again; given the right opportunity plus luck and of course with God's grace, I'd gladly give that to her. I love her so much and we wanted her to pursue her most loved hobby, which is baking. And I bet you, she bakes real good cakes, cookies and pastries! :P

What I Can Share

We often see such images like this in social networking sites, right? And as simple as clicking the Like & Share buttons, that's it! But life is not that easy nor it shouldn't be as complicated as it seems. We receive a lot of blessings from God. And as true Christians, we ought to give it back to others.

As one of the members of the Concerned Parents International Foundation (CPIF), we are engaging ourselves into various outreach programs such as-  for the less fortunate children, educational  assistance, feeding programs, hope and joy for the elderlies, gift- giving, etc.

The smile on their faces, the joy and pleasure that sharing can bring, the hope that we had instilled, the bonding... and the cherished moments... it's incomparable!

I am willing to give whatever I am capable to share, and I'll gladly do it over and over again.

Merry Christmas Everyone and
a Glorious New Year!!!

Filipino Bloggers Hub Xmas Party is sponsored by The Cocoon Boutique Hotel, San Marino, King Sue, Bo's Coffee, iFlick, Cadbury, Pinoy Master Grill, Cebu Boy Lechon, San Miguel Brewery, Baja Mexican Cantina, and Crystal Clear.

Kipling and World Vision Unites to Create a Brighter Christmas

Ms. Miriam Quiambao, an ardent supporter of World Vision hosted the momentous event

Christmas season is the most wonderful time of the year. It's the season of love, hope, forgiving, peace, unity, sharing and giving. And above everything, it's the moment wherein we commemorate and celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

As timely as this joint project of Kipling and World Vision, both have ventured into a joint program to bring "A Brighter Christmas For A Brighter Tomorrow." The union of the Belgian bag brand Kipling and world renowned Christian development and advocacy organization, World Vision aims to provide additional funds for the education of children under its care.

Mr. Benjamin Go, President of Greyhound Marketing Corporation,
exclusive distributor of Kipling in the Philippines

According to Mr. Benjamin Go, President of Greyhound Marketing Corporation, exclusive distributor of Kipling in the Philippines, the partnership is a timely effort to spread the fun and happiness that’s instilled in every Kipling bag. “There is no greater joy this Christmas than knowing we have brought smiles to others, especially children. Through “A Brighter Christmas For A Brighter Tomorrow” program, we can make not only the holidays, but also the future, brighter for the children of World Vision.”

Mr. Jun Godornes, World Vision National Resource Development Associate Director

“We are very delighted to have this partnership with Kipling, which is known globally for bringing fun and joy through its fashionable bags. Were happy that this time, Kipling has decided to reach out and bring the same kind of goodwill to ensure the education of children sponsored by World Vision,” says National Resource Development Associate Director Jun Godornes.

Salute to Kipling and World Vision for putting the welfare of the unfortunate children ahead of their personal benefits. Now, everyone can also be a part of this humble endeavor, how?
Starting December 1 to 31, 2012, for every purchase of a Kipling bag or luggage, the international bag brand will donate Php 500 to its advocacy partner, the World Vision. So can you imagine that by being fashionable and selfless, we could in a way, also share by giving children a brighter tomorrow?
It's like "shopping for a cause!"
