#MakingMEGA to screen BTS of MayWard cover shoot in Germany with Vivo

Dreams do come true, just ask up and coming star and Vivo local endorser Maymay Entrata, who recently spent her Christmas in Germany, the hometown of the other half of the MayWard phenom, Edward Barber.

The trip might seem all for fun, but no, the workaholic loveteam braved the cold in their fairytale-inspired creations for the respective February 2018 cover of Mega and Mega Man magazines. It was their first ever cover and out-of-the-country shoots with Mega.

The results are magical, to say the least. But the process to get the shots are even more impressive.

With the Vivo V7+ in hand, Maymay Entrata is a vision in red during a #MakingMEGA #MEGAVivoMoments photo shoot in a snowy forest in Germany. Photo courtesy of One Mega Group.

MayWard fans will get a glimpse of how the cover shoots were perfected in a special documentary to be screened on Sunday, March 4, from 6pm to 8pm at SM Aura IMAX Theatre for free.

The #MakingMEGA shoot in Germany with Entrata and Barbers was made possible through the support of Vivo. Entrata joined Vivo’s family during the launch of the V7+ smartphone in September 2017.

Not even subzero temperatures can break the power of the Vivo V7+. During Entrata’s fashion shoot in Germany, the #MakingMEGA #MEGAVivoMoments team had no qualms in exposing the smartphone to the harshest weather conditions. Photo courtesy of One Mega Group.

In one of the editorials, the V7+ played a role in telling the story of a trapped princess saved by her dashing prince. For this shoot, the V7+ was stuck in a snow-covered forest in Germany as its 5.99-inch all screen display showed the image of Entrata until it was picked up by Barber, rescuing the cursed damsel in the process.

On Sunday, fans will get to see more of these interactions and other exclusive behind-the-scenes shots of making the February 2018 cover of the Mega magazines with one of today’s influential loveteams.

Savoury Dim Sum Delights at Marco Polo Ortigas Manila’s Lung Hin

Cantonese cuisine will never be complete with a serving of assorted delicacies, dim sum, and Lung Hin is showcasing a variety of authentic steamed and deep-fried dishes, for special lunch set menus.

Coming from a long history, dim sums started in teahouses to refresh travellers along the Silk Road. From workers who have exert their best efforts at work, dim sum was believed to be the comfort food in the afternoon for a relaxing tea, over a good conversation. This has also been served even as early as six in the morning, with gathering friends for a good meal. With this origin, dim sum has been a witness, and a great part of the Chinese culture.

As Lung Hin features authentic Cantonese dishes, it also takes pride in the dim sum offerings that they serve, coming from dim sum master chef Wong Chiu Lung, who has been in the industry for years. Having Hong Kong as his native, Chef Wong truly has practised authentic dim sum cooking, wherein it is also believed where the best dim sum comes from.

Enjoy steamed dim sum combinations—Vegetarian Dumpling, Pork Siu Mau with Trauffle Sauce, and Shrimp Dumplings with Gold Leaf—together with flavourful Roasted Pork Belly, Baked Barbecue Pork Buns, and Hong Kong Satin Chicken Congee, all for Set Lunch A.

Fried dishes such as Deep-Fried Bean Curd Skin Rolls with Prawn, Deep-Fried Hong Kong Pigeon, Wok-Fried Rice Roll with Fresh Shrimps and Shredded Chicken can also be enjoyed for Set Lunch B, with the steamed favourites, Pork Spare Ribs with Garlic, and Mushroom Buns.

May it be steamed, pan-fried, or deep-fried, experience authentic Cantonese dim sum dining at Lung Hin for the Set Lunch from 8 March to 31 April 2018. Lung Hin is located at the Level 44 of the Two-Time Five-Star Award Winner of Forbes Travel Guide, Marco Polo Ortigas Manila. To know more about the hotel, visit www.marcopolohotels.com. Ria Atayde got pregnant out of wedlock in "Ipaglaban Mo: Disgrasyada"

Ria Atayde

Ria Atayde is Maria Sophia Campo Atayde in real life, born in March 23,1992 with parents Sylvia Sanchez, a veteran actress and father Art Atayde, her sibling, Arjo Atayde is also one of the great actors we have today. Ria is also making her own name in local showbiz. Never did she imagined that she'll also enter showbiz just like her mom and brother. Opportunities can!e her way and now here she is! Asked what she'd wanna be if not given the chance to be an actress, she said, she wanted to become a PR in a PR firm because she's fond of organizing events when she was still in school.

Last Saturday, Ria had played a lead role as Gladys Laurena in "Ipaglaban Mo: Disgrasyada," #IMDisgrasyada which aired right after "It's Showtime." Gladys is a school teacher who fell in love with her co-teacher Ben, played by Enzo Pineda.

Ria is with Enzo Pineda (Ben) during their shoot

Ria as Gladys with her parents in the #IMDisgrasyada story, veteran actors Irma Adlawan and Julio Diaz during their shoot

Ana Abad Santos (left)  plays Gladys (Ria Atayde) lawyer together with Ms. Irma Adlawan (right)

Gladys and Ben feel for each other. For two years, they have been secretly living together in one roof, without the knowledge of the school's personnels they are working with. When Gladys got pregnant by Ben, both were surprised because it was not part of their plan yet. That incident initiated Ben to not to contact Gladys and later on resigned from their work.

Apalled from Ben's irrational absence and acts, Gladys was even surprised and felt disgusted when the school learned about her condition thereby dismissing her and not paying her salary. The principal scold her for being immoral and stated that their doings were not paralleled to the school's regulations and image.

Gladys, being fully aware of her real rights, went on to consult a lawyer, Ana Abad Santos who helped her file a charge against her former work. The lawsuit file is under the Republic Act 1052 which states :

AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE MANNER OF  TERMINAL EMPLOYMENT WITHOUT A DEFINITE PERIOD IN A COMMERCIAL, INDUSTRIAL, OR AGRICULTURAL, ESTABLISHMENT OR ENTERPRISE

She fought for her rights with her mom (Irma Adlawan) and her best friend played by Cora Waddell only as her support system. Months passed by, before she give birth, Ben suddenly appeared... begging and asking for forgiveness, he explained his reason why he disappeared into thin air. He said he was afraid of having into a commitment for he's not ready yet since he still has to support three siblings.

The Supreme Court has ruled out! Finally, they had the victory they ever wanted! The truth and justice was on their side. All's well that ends well.

For me, the moral of the story is if we unsure of the real character and capabilitiy of our partner, we should not engage into pre-marital sex. Being in a Catholic country and God-fearing family, we were brought and raised well by our parents and we were all discouraged to not to enter in such relationships and acts. Maybe, if they had not decided to live together, Gladys would not end up like that in the story.

One thing that's good with Gladys' character is that she did not lose hope, she had fought 'til the end, inspite her condition (pregnant),  she really knows her rights and she believed in it.

Ria played very well, as a school teacher, as a daughter, as a friend and as Ben's partner. I like it when her voice squeaks while she's bursting from anger and with tears. She was so good in doing that. At 25, she has played several roles before in her last tv series titled, "My Dear Heart," she played a doctor. Here in #IMDisgrasyada, it's her second time to play a school teacher, her first was in the tv series "Ningning" as Teacher Hope Cruz in 2015.

I guess Ria is ready to portray more adult or mature roles. But according to her at her age, she is still not allowed to have a kissing scene. Well, who knows right, maybe one of these days, she might play a different role, one that will leave us an impression that she is really MADE!

This is me with beautiful and bubbly Ria Atayde during our exclusive interview with her

Thanks for being so amiable and nice Ria! More power to you!!!
Go out and spread your wings!

Tandingan and Monterde joined Vivo’s family in September 2017 during the launch of the V7+, the brand’s flagship smartphone that boasts of a 24-megapixel front camera and 5.99-inch all-screen display.

Since then, the singers have performed at Vivo’s mall shows in and out of Metro Manila in helping spread the word about what sets Vivo smartphones apart from the pack.  Tandingan and Monterde both expressed their gratitude to Vivo for helping them mount the show.

“Vivo has always been supportive of our projects. We’re very thankful to them for helping us sing together for our fans in Cagayan de Oro,” the pair said.

To make the event more exciting, Vivo gave away V7 smartphones to two lucky fans who posted online a photo of the concert using the hashtag #VivoxTVxKZ.

A Timeless Cake Challenge

Reach for your frosting spatulas and hold on to your piping tubes, because in a few weeks’ time, the Goldilocks’s Intercollegiate Cake Decorating Challenge (ICDC) is once again whipping up a storm. In a field of the culinary arts that requires creativity, imagination, and a steady, delicate touch, which of our country’s future pastry masters has the ability to — as they say —take the cake?

On March 3 at the SM Megamall Fashion Hall, the best culinary students from all over the country will be going head to head in a live cake decorating competition held by Goldilocks, the country’s number one bakeshop. This is the 12th ICDC since 2006, and this year Goldilocks has gone back to the very heart and essence of the competition: the cake itself, and what it represents.

“Cakes are meant to celebrate sweet moments and special memories, which all become timeless,” noted Goldilocks Marketing Director Cherry Caluya. “On the 12th year of the ICDC, we are returning to the spirit behind celebration cakes, and encouraging our competing students to design their memories and color their dreams. We want them to create something timeless,” she emphasized.

Caluya further explained that that this timeless theme can travel in either direction. “We are looking forward to seeing cake designs that will evoke memories of the past, and some that will gaze into the future. It’s an inspiring theme that will surely be interpreted in many amazing ways,” she added.

Almost one hundred photo entries were sent by aspiring schools from all over the country, which were narrowed down to 10 teams. These ten teams then competed in a closed-door qualifying round, until only six teams remained. On competition day, Lyceum of the Philippines Laguna, University of Batangas, Saint Anne College of Lucena, Pangasinan State University, Western Institute of Technology Iloilo, and the Holy Cross of Davao College will all vie to be named the overall champion of the Goldilocks ICDC 2018.

The team whose cake designs can truly be considered timeless will take home a Baking Showcase for their school, Goldilocks gift certificates for each member, and the honor of being among the best amateur cake decorators in the country. “Apart from a strong sense of school pride, winning the ICDC is a testament to hard work and diligence. In a manner of speaking, the trophy is simply the icing on top of the cake,” Caluya concluded.

To witness this timeless event, head to SM Megamall Fashion Hall on March 3, or log on to www.goldilocks.com.ph, or find @GoldilocksPH on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for more information []

Sylvia Sanchez, not a perfect mom but probably one of the bests

Sylvia Sanchez, The Actress

We've known Ms. Sylvia Sanchez as an actress way back from the 80's and 90's circa. She is Jossette Ocampo, already 46 years old and she started as a sexy star before but had eventually turned into a serious and very good actress in her generation. She has gained tremendous respect and recognition from being an outstanding actress, known for giving her all to whatever role she is portraying.

She mostly plays "mother" to some lead characters like, she's Nanay Teresita in "Be Careful With My Heart," Mamay Pacing in "Ningning," Nanay Gloria in "The Greatest Love," where she plays the lead and has acclaimed remarkable and great commendations, and in her recent and presently airing, she is Nanay Sonya in "Hanggang Saan," where she gets to work with her real-life son, Arjo Atayde who is also making his own name in the local showbiz industry.

Ms. Sylvia has also received several acting awards like last year's 15th Gawad Tanglaw Awards she bagged the Best Performance by an Actress in a series for portraying a Dementia driven mother in "The Greatest Love," and also in the same soap, she has gained another award from the 25th Golden Dove Awards as Best TV Actress in a Drama program

In her drama series "Hanggang Saan," she is Nanay Sonya, a single parent to her two sons Paco (Arjo Atayde) and Domeng (Yves Flores). During the first episodes, it was clearly shown to us, how far Sonia could do and willing to undergo for the sake of her children, most specially for Paco who suffered from a "matter of life and death" heart ailment. She had been in a crime scene which she didn't intend to, actually. As of the present, she is undergoing court trials while being detained in a women's prison cell.

During our interview with her, she had mentioned that she thinks can also be a "Sonya" who loves her family so much and is willing to do everything for the love, sake, safety and protection of her loved ones.

When I asked her how is she as a daughter, a mom and a wife, she had explained to me briefly that being like those important real life roles in her life, what's important is to have respect and give respect and she also shares that she may not be the perfect daughter, mother and wife but she believes that she is one of the bests in those fields.

As a mom myself, I could also relate to what Ms. Sylvia had shared, we learn to love unconditionally and to not be selfish. I have also learned to think of other's welfare.

"Hanggang Saan" airs during weekdays over Kapamilya Network right after "Asintado."

That's me with the one and the only Ms. Sylvia Sanchez

"The Stepdaughters:" Rears great family values and integrity in GMA Afternoon Prime

Megan Young and Katrina Halili in "The Stepdaughters"

There are numerous stories about stepdaughters or stepbrothers, right? But this latest GMA Afternoon Prime offering features a different one. From the start, we could all figure out that what went during our childhood days, has a real great impact on what we could become when we grow older or as we mature.

Angelou de Leon's character as Brenda, the pessimistic, nagging and self-centered wife of Hernan, played by Gary Estrada in the story, is a very good example of what I am pointing out about the storyline. Brenda, being the ill-mannered one in the Salvador family, had influenced and poisoned their daughter's mind, Isabelle, played by Katrina Halili. It is very evident in some scenes that she keeps on inflicting bad notions and values to Isabelle, who eventually had acquired her mom's foolish ways. Kudos to Hernan, who plays the family's equalizer and never fails to oppose and remind his family the good values they should imply. He's a sort of the exact opposite of his wife, Brenda.

On the other hand, the Dela Rosa family which includes the very loving and responsible father, Mario, played by Alan Paule, the doting mother, Luisa, played by Glydel Mercado and the optimistic and loving daughter Luisa, played by Megan Young were the main victims in the story. They exhibit the best example of the Filipino family, that whatever happens, they don't lose hope, continue to love each other, pray and fight against the challenging tides of life. For them, as long as they stick together, through thick and thin, ups and downs, they continue to view life in a different light. It's just that there are some incidents in our lives which are invevitable and out of our control... like the passing away of our dear loved ones.

Hernan, had a heart attack. The fortune of the Dela Rosa family was not known by the real beneficiaries of the big amount of money acquired through a winning sweepstakes or Lotto ticket of Mario. Fate had played with the Salvador and Dela Rosa families so hard, and when they finally saw each other after a long time, it was a different story now.

Thus, the plot has become more exciting and worth waiting as the remaining members of  both families struggle through truth, integrity, love, passion, dream, power and money. Truly, it pays to be honest. And being truthful to yourself and to others would never bring you any harm and colud lead you to the right path of life.

I commend all the actors in "The Stepdaughters," most especially Ms. Angelou de Leon, who really took us by storm, she has really nailed her "Brenda" role, I can't really help but imagine real-life people that I have known and encountered in life, due to her very realistic performance, from her facial expressions, mannerisms, down to delivering her lines and adlibs, it was so remarkable!

There are so many reasons to stay glued to your television sets my dear amazing readers, so please do watch "The Stepdaughters," on GMA Afternoon Prime replacing "Impostora."

"The Stepdaughters" cast Mikael Daez, Megan Young, Katrina Halili and Sef Cadayona during our preview screening of the said soap

"The Stepdaughters" cast with us, bloggers (Thanks Rocky Batara of tvseriescraze.com for the photos)

Megan Young as Mayumi Dela Rosa, Mikael Daez as Francis Almeda and Katrina Halili as Isabelle Salvador

Gary Estrada as Hernan Salvador

Glydel Mercado as Luisa Dela Rosa

Alan Paule as Mario Dela Rosa

Angelou de Leon as Brenda Salvador

Dion Ignacio as Froilan Almeda

------------------------------------------------------------------

The Stepdaughters is a story of two women who are both beautiful and intelligent but with personalities that couldn’t be any more different. They have always been destined to be rivals and both of them aren’t ones to back away from a fight.

Headlining this drama are Miss World 2013 Megan Young and versatile Kapuso actress Katrina Halili, together with GMA’s prime leading man Mikael Daez

Megan Young is Mayumi Dela Rosa. Beautiful and intelligent, she graduated with a degree in Chemistry with flying colors. She also dreams of creating her own makeup product line someday.

Katrina Halili is Isabelle Salvador. She is an only child who grew up spoiled and self-centered. She also manages her family’s makeup line, Coco Bella.

Mikael Daez is Francis Almeda. He is handsome, smart, and works as a head product engineer. He meets Mayumi and falls in love with her, despite Isabelle’s incessant prodding for him to love her back.

In the series, Mayumi and Isabelle never really liked each other, even more so when Mayumi’s mother, Luisa, and Isabelle’s father, Hernan, fall for one another and get married, making them stepsisters.

But no secret ever stays a secret, especially ones that are rooted within families. When Isabelle finds out what Hernan has done, she will do all that it takes to keep everything they have, even if it means taking down Mayumi. But Mayumi will never let anyone hurt her or her loved ones. Now both Mayumi and Isabelle will fight for what is rightfully theirs—family, honor, and love.

Completing the cast are: Gary Estradaas Hernan Salvador, Isabelle’s doting and hardworking father who remained down-to-earth even after becoming rich; Glydel Mercado as Luisa dela Rosa, Mayumi’s beautiful and loving mother who will do everything for her daughter especially after her husband’s death; Allan Paule as Mario Dela Rosa, Mayumi’s father who perseveres for his family’s future; Angelu De Leon as Brenda Salvador, Hernan’s wife who loves and spoils their daughter Isabelle very much; Sef Cadayona as Bryce Morales, Francis’ friend and officemate working as a graphic designer at the company; Samantha Lopez as Daphne Soriano, Hernan’s executive assistant; and the special participation of Dion Ignacio as Froilan Almeda, Francis’ prodigal older brother who left their home when he was young.

The Stepdaughters is a classic soap which highlights some of the most important values in life—honesty, love for family, the determination to reach one’s dreams despite the odds, and how true beauty stems from having a genuinely good heart.

The series is under the helm of director Paul Sta. Ana with the creative team composed of creative director Roy Iglesias, creative consultant Aloy Adlawan, concept creator and headwriter Geng Delgado, writers J-mee Katanyag and Kutz Enriquez and brainstormers Evie MacapugayWiro Michael Ladera, and Nehem Dallego.

The Stepdaughters is created by the GMA Entertainment Content Group under the supervision of Senior Vice President for ECG Lilybeth G. Rasonable, Vice President for Drama Redgie A. Magno, Assistant Vice President for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy, Senior Program Manager Hazel F. Abonita and Executive Producer Lui Cadag.

Relive Memories from Childhood in “The Girl from Yesterday”

Who does not have an eventful childhood? Most of our memories from our youth are spent in school. Waking up early in the morning, meeting new people who becomes your schoolmates, teachers or your principal, playing games with friends inside and outside the classroom, pranking other students or watching them being pranked. Those naughty school memories does not only belong to Class 12A3 in The Girl from Yesterday but also a significant memory to all of us.

The Girl from Yesterday will bring us back to those memories as we experience the high school life of Thu. The film is based on the classic novel of the same name by author Nguyen Nhat Anh, a novel known by many generations of students in Vietnam. Even if you’re from the 80s or the 2000s, the book will still make you laugh with its witty lines or will make you feel nostalgic when you see yourself back at the age of 15.
Everyone will find a lot of relatable situations even if you went to school 20 or 30 or 40 years ago. We will still remember the classrooms being noisy, messy but fun and when the bell rings in time for recess, everyone goes with their own silly businesses. Students here and there, doing homework or chatting about what’s the latest trend or about their crushes.
The film will also remind us about our teachers, our mentors. The people who shaped us to be the best we can be, even if we get to be the most stubborn student they’ve had.
The school’s heartthrob, the class clown, the classmate who’s always late, who always sleeps, the teacher’s pet and most of all, that special person who inspires you to go to school every day.
The Girl from Yesterday promises to give the audience various emotions that will bring us back to our childhood memories.

“The Girl from Yesterday” opens in Philippine cinemas February 14, 2018 from CJ Entertainment and Yeah! CMG, locally distributed by Rafaella Films International.
