October 20, 2019

Babae at Baril" movie is a women-centric film. This tackles the iissues in the society experience by women and at the same time finding ways of how to resolve it. It doen't include how ar what method one can utilize or apply upon resolving the issues or problems.

Director Rae Red, has managed to choose Kapuso actress and showbiz Royalty Janine Gutierrez to portray the lead role. According to her Janine possesses a certain level of intelligence when it comes to acting and that she liked her style. "Babae at Baril" (Woman and Gun) is a sociopathic drama thriller that encompasses the tribulations of this particular woman, her life in the city, her almost everyday engagements and how she overcome this certain part of her life that has become traumatic.

GMA Artist Center star Janine Gutierrez

Janine has been known to portray tough and fierceful roles like her role as Celestina in "Dragon Lady," and she's also part of the movie "Dagsin," a 2016 Cinemalaya Movie which has been shortlisted as a possible official Philippine entry to the International Film Feature to the Oscars.

In "Babae At Baril," the versatility of Janine will once again be challenged since she'll be playing a regular saleslady of a local department store who's facing everyday struggles in life in the city. Starting with a very vigorous travel back and forth her shared room in a certain house located in a highly-populated side of the Metro, then there's also his supervisor who keeps on criticizing and yelling at her, (he was so pestering)...

To make the long story brief, it all started one night while she was sleeping... she heard gunshots and hurriedly went outside the house where she was renting a shared room, then found a peculiar "gun" immediately in front of their doorstep. After this particular scene, the timid girl was transformed into a fierceful, braver and stronger woman. We can see now that having a gun, or possessing a gun, one can transform into a different character.

You see, before this incident, a traumatic event happened with her involving one of her co-employees, played by Felix Roco. And having possessed such dangerous item (gun) has made her confront him, be violent with him, talk back to her supervisor at work, and even pole the gun towards her roomates' abusive boyfriend.

We can evidently see the power and effect of owning a gun in a woman's life...

Janine and Felix are also joined by fellow actors like JC Santos, Allan Paule, Ruby Ruiz, Archie Adamos, Elijah Canlas and Sky Teotico. This is direk Rae Red's directorial movie debut. "Babae At Baril" is one of the three recipients of production grands amounting to Php1.5M each from QCinema. The movie will be compet8nf along with Glenn Barit's The Cleaners and Arnel Barbarona's Kaaway sa Sulod, and against entries from Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos and China.
