Jane de Leon now holds Darna's "Bato!"
Ever since Liza Soberano's and ABS-CBN's announcement that Liza will no longer portray the modern "Darna," due to her fractured index finger, speculations, different opinions and discussions were put up and some even had disputes regarding their choice as to who will play the newest "Darna" in replacement to Liza.
It has been known that almost 300 celebrities auditioned for the very controversial local "Super horoine" role. Few months had passed, the search is finally over!!! The search for a fresh, innocent, versatile, well-vibed yet with a strong character and of course beautiful and expressive face.
After a series of callbacks and deliberation, one name had emerged among the rest and she is... Jane de Leon who is Jane Florence Benitez de Leon in real life and she's only 20 years old and hails from Laguna. She is a member of Star Magic and has appeared in several films like "Walwal," "The Debutantes" (where I met her) abd has also appeared in several tv programs like "Ipaglaban Mo," and "La Luna Sangre" as one of the moonchasers, she's not just a pretty face, a talented millennial being a member of "Girltrends" in the noontime show "It's Showtime" and her latest project was "Halik," where she played Maggie Bartolome, sister of Lino, played by Jericho Rosales. She has created a mark on that high-rating primtime tv series that's why she's now fondly called "Maggie."
True enough, her presence in the "Darna" audition had also created a mark among the members of the panel, they said that there is something in her that makes you wanna know more and that interest them. Her innocent eyes and yet strong instincts had caught direk Jerrold Tarog's and Inang Olivia Lamasan's eyes and delicate taste.
Accirding to Jane, she did not even auditioned for the "Darna" role but for the "Kontrabida" (antagonist) role instead. She was so happy the moment Inang Olive had told her the great news! During the final deliberation, ABS-CBN management asked De Leon how committed she is in getting the role. She replied, "I will do everything and anything for the role because I believe in her, I believe in what Darna stands for."
Once the big announcement was out yesterday, the netizens couldn't stop but to react, comment, congratulate, expressed their happiness and search for Jane de Leon's details on the net. The #Darna and Jane de Leon were among the top trending tweets yesterday.

Everything's doin' great now with our newest "Darna" Jane de Leon, all I can say is, that I am hoping to interview her personally to get to know more of her since she's not in Wikipedia yet, :) but seriously... I have really high hopes for this girl, the moment I saw her during the "The Debutantes" blogcon, I had a positive vibes on her, she's not that tall like Liza Soberano but look at our "Star for All Seasons" Vilma Santos, she's as petite as Jane, right?
