Arjo and Ria Atayde in a very sensitive drama story via "MMK" this Saturday

Real life siblings Arjo and Ria Atayde together for the first time in one project via "MMK"

Real life siblings, Arjo and Ria Atayde, will star in a very sensitive, family drama in "Maalaala Mo Kaya" December 8, 2018, Saturday episode. This is the story of Sibuyan siblings, Armin and Rosedel who swore to each other and made a vow to never leave the place and make sure that their future families will inherit the beauty of Sibuyan.

Arjo Atayde plays Armin

Since this upcoming episode of MMK on Saturday will be their first project together, Arjo describes Ria... Magaling s'ya at very professional, walang awkward feeling with her. We both get into the character it's not Ria and Arjo speaking so wala talagang ilangan bato (exchanging of lines) lang. "

Ria Atayde plays Rosedel

On the other hand, Ria describes her working relationship with her brother Arjo as ... "For me, lahat po ng role ko challenging. Pero napadali po s'ya, kasi ang dali po hugutan ni Arjo." When asked about her feeling of being together for the first time with her brother, "Super happy po, dream come true para sa akin... sa amin," she added.

Brief background:

Due to life's seclusion, the siblings have to migrate to Manila to be able to attend and finish college – the ultimate dream of their parents, Domingo (Ernie Garcia)  and Timotea (Tetchie Agbayani) who were unable to finish elementary. Together, Rosedel and Armin live in a chaotic Manila, where they struggled financially to finish Commerce and Civil Engineering, respectively. In spite of the separation from their sanctuary, Armin makes sure that his sister feels paradise in his company, protecting and sacrificing his welfare for her comfort. Until the two successfully graduated from college and are excited to come back to Sibuyan and fulfill their vows. But shortly after, Rosedel gets pregnant. Armin despises this silently – feeling betrayed and concerned for her sister who apparently marries at an early age. Due to that, Rosedel remains in Manila while Armin goes back to Sibuyan to help their family, give back to their parents, and help send their other seven siblings to school. Unfortunately, after three years, Rosedel  is widowed and is pushed to come home to Sibuyan while grieving for her loss. There, Armin accepts his sister despite his disappointment in her. He even takes care of Rosedel’s children – loving, providing for them, and showing them the beauty of the paradise where he and Rosedel grew up. As the siblings fulfill their postponed vow, a private mining company storms Sibuyan bringing the threat of destruction and exploitation to their paradise. The siblings stand side by side fighting bravely for their home. However, not everyone in the island shares the same compassion as the siblings, with some who are persuaded with money and power thus siding with the outsiders. Until Armin receives death threats. Then, Rosedel becomes afraid of losing her job amidst joining Armin’s crusade. But Armin remains firm while Rosedel’s cowardness gets the best of her, leaving the latter’s side and letting him fight the powerful company alone.

The Sibuyan Siblings has a very sensitive plot since they became environmental activists. A lot had happened to them and the love, perseverance, loyalty and their principles were put at stake. Sacrifices and bravery play essential to their lives. We should take note and make importance of their journey together and what they fight for. For me, just basing on the MMK's teaser, I really felt extreme admiration to Armin and Rosedel Marin, and I am definitely sure that those two courageous yet loving characters were brilliantly played and portrayed by real life Atayde Siblings. Kudos to both of you, Arjo and Ria!!!
