Go, go, go! Let's support "Run for the Pasig River" campaign

A river warrior cleaning the Estero de San Miguel (P. Casal Bridge)

Who says that dreams don't come true? Well, they do. :)) For most of the Filipinos, Gina Lopez's vivid dream of rehabilitating and beautifying the "esteros" or estuaries of Manila, is something next to impossible. Well, take a closer look and please pay attention to my post and see what we've discovered while touring Estero de San Miguel and Estero de Paco.

Gina Lopez, managing director of ABS-CBN Foundation operating Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig (KBPIP), aims to clean-up the lifestyle of residents in the areas and improve their way of living by simply imposing the value of discipline and unity among them. After what we have witnessed during our "estero tour," Gina and the whole KBPIP team together with community volunteers otherwise known as the River Warriors, really did a great job!

KBPIP has been known for organizing three successful runs since 2009 namely the Philippine International Marathon: A Run for the Pasig River; the historic 10.10.10. Run for the Pasig River that broke the Guiness World Record for the "most participants in a racing event" with 116, 087 runners, and last year's 11.02.2011 Run for the Pasig River, the largest foot race joined by 86, 547 runners.

This year, KBPIP has set focused on the waterways in Quezon City which empties most of its trash to the San Juan River and contributes over 40% of the filth that flows into the Pasig River, thus, the title of the upcoming adcovacy run, 09.30.2012 Run for the Pasig River, "The Quezon City Experience."

Registration for the 09.30.2012 Run for the Pasig River is ongoing at SM North EDSA, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, R.O.X, Chris Sports Festival Mall and Chris Sports Glorietta. Registration is until Saturday (Sept 29). Aside from the registration, there will also be merchandise available in the SM booths, in which part of the proceeds will also go to the river rehabilitation. Do you think it would be impossible to rehabilitate this?

This time, I took this shot! Look at the Estero de Paco today!!!

Isn't it amazing?!!!

We could all walk now under the bridge freely!

Kids also enjoy their beautiful ambience

Look! I never imagined that I could see and get hold of a flower growing from the estero; with me is my friend/blogger JL Dechavez Urgel

Fascinating!!! ;))

Of course, all these good things wouldn't be happening without their help...

Thank you...

Thank you...

Thank you so much!!!

We are appealing to all local government units to support this unwavering campaign for us to start anew. A brand new life with peace of mind and yet very progressive.

with Ms. Gina Lopez

Note: According to Ms. Gina Lopez, one of the island reactors is malfunctioning that time, causing the appearance of several algae in the river.
