A Beautiful Affair: More than just a teleserye
“A Beautiful Affair," the most awaited and talked about romantic tv series on Kapamilya network’s
primetime bida is set to have its pilot episode tonight, October 29, 2012 after
“Ina, Kapatid, Anak” replacing “Walang Hanggan.”
Basing from the soon to be shown teleserye’s teasers, I’m pretty sure you would agree with me if I say,
it has one of the best qualities a tv series could ever possess since it’s
filmed in high definition. And I’ve talked to a bunch of people commenting
that, all the while they thought “A Beautiful Affair” is a follow-up movie of
John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo after the phenomenal success and record-breaking
of their movie, “The Mistress” under Star Cinema.
Lloydie and Bea’s
love team is a rare tandem that has huge followers not only on television but
their chemistry has also a great appeal on the movie-going public. Their status
as a love team is something that is barely and uniquely seen in showbiz, and
that it could be directly compared to Vilma and Bobot; Guy and Pip’s love team (as
my mother told me) way back the 70’s era.
“A Beautiful Affair” is Bea and John
Lloyd’s tv offering as they celebrate their 10th year anniversary as on-screen love team in the local industry.
Last night, I was one
of the privileged bloggers invited by ABS-CBN through Flow Galindez of www.angsawariko.com (thanks heaps!) to
attend the special screening of “A Beautiful Affair” held at Trinoma in Quezon City.
The long wait was over and it was worth it when the stars like Gabby
Concepcion, Alice Dixon, Dimples Romana, Megan Young, Anna Roces, John Arcilla,
Lemuel Pelayo of “Pintada,” former PBB housemates Kit Thompson, Carlo Romero,
Pamu Pamorada with boyfriend and co-housemate Kevin Fowler and PBB Unlimited big
winner Slater Young appeared. The evening even
sparkled at the arrival of “A Beautiful Affair” lead stars, John Estrada, Bea
Alonzo and John Lloyd together with their director, Katski Flores and executive
producer Laurenti Dyogi.

I’m sure you’re
getting excited of what I have to say about the 2 ½ hours or equivalent to one
whole week episode of “A Beautiful Affair.” Well, I’m not gonna be a spoiler
but I’d be speaking in my most undiversified manner hihihi :)) Oh well, it was
so surprising to watch a melodramatic program with others substances like
suspense, action, animation (would you believe?!) romance and light comedy
(Lloydie was so natural, believe me!) rolled into one and that only occurred
during the five day episode of the said tv series. The story also lets you
exercise your free imagination.
We were quite aware
of how the “beautiful” affair began, right? (thanks to the teasers) The story
evolved on how two perfect strangers met in an almost perfect and foreign
setting in Austria. Napoleon or Leon Riego (John Lloyd) and Genevieve or Gen Saavedra
(Bea) bumped into each other in a very odd situation. Actually, most of their
encounters were a bit peculiar and I know you’d notice it too eventually. Enduring
each other’s dilemma, burden, hang-ups and predicaments in life, Leon and Gen
seemingly felt attraction towards each other, talk about misery loves company :)) Gen, a successful physician who loves to do work- related volunteer
projects finally planned an unannounced visit to his Austrian-based fiancé Jake
(Carlo Romero) only to find out and be surprised to her dismay. Her fiancé
dumped her like a hot potato for an Austrian girl named Samantha. Jake had directly and frankly
spoken to Gen’s face how he loves his girlfriend and that she makes him happy
(ouch!) tsk, tsk poor Gen.

On the other hand, Leon,
a top-notch architect from Pierro company owned by his adoptive brother Edward
(John Estrada) has been staying in Vienna, Austria for one year and three months trying
to look for answers (according to him) and constantly blaming himself for the hapless
incident that happened to his adoptive parents played by Tanya Gomez and John
Arcilla which then caused his mother’s life. Leon’s search for his biological
parents is another story yet to be disclosed as the tv series unfolds.
When Gen finally
decided to move on with her life after letting go of Jake; and Leon on the other
hand, had decided to accept another job offer as carpenter in Salzburg, Austria,
fate seems to be playing on them. Why? They've once again bumped into each
other and everything happened so fast; that was a great turn-out of Gen and
Leon’s character especially. Another incident will occur that will be the predecessor
of “A Beautiful Affair”... full of love, passion and romance.
How could a beautiful
affair as such prosper if they've decided to drift away by choice only to find
out that their paths would cross again? After sometime, Gen will be marrying another
man, who ironically turned out to be Edward. Being in denial of your true
feelings I guess isn't such a good habit. What if Gen and Leon instead, decided to
be together and never leave each other’s arms back there in Austria? Would they
face the same predicaments? Of course not, the conflict, the drama, the thrill
and realization then begins as they go back here in the Philippines. The newest tv series' theme song and one of my fave songs says it all... after all-- "After all the stops and starts, we keep coming back to these two hearts, two angels who've been rescued from the fall. After all that we've been through, it all comes down to me and you, I guess it's meant to be, forever you and me, after all."
All of these, proved
to be that “A Beautiful Affair” is more than just a teleserye.
It's an experience... it's destiny.
Do catch it on ABS-CBN’s primetime bida after “Ina, Kapatid, Anak” on weeknights.
