From Malls to Mobile: How Home Credit Redefined the BNPL Experience

October 28, 2021

There is no doubt that the global pandemic has accelerated digital transformation, changing our day-to-day lives. Due to current events, the digital shift that was supposed to take years happened in a blink of an eye – putting the spotlight on businesses and how they make an effort to innovate their products and services.
For Home Credit, it did not come as a surprise since their digital efforts started years ago knowing that digitalization, especially in the financial industry, is the next big thing. Their journey started from their launching in 2013, where they already proved to be a gamechanger in the financial landscape.

Coming from a predominantly unbanked market like ours, Home Credit came into the picture and started catering to Filipinos with little to no credit history and providing affordable installments for their gadget and electronic needs. This is what we now call as “buy now, pay later” and despite the term finding its fame during the pandemic, it’s actually a relatively old concept – and Home Credit has long been considered a pioneer and leader in this industry.

Not only has it solidified its footprint as the country’s leading consumer finance with presence in over 9000+ stores nationwide, it has also rapidly grown its mobile presence in the recent years through the My Home Credit App in Google Play Store which now has more than 9 million app users, putting their total customer count to almost 8 million.

As they celebrate their 8th year anniversary, their growing customer-base will continue to enjoy several of its offers through physical touchpoints at partner retail stores as well as explore contactless options through the My Home Credit App providing every need in just one place – loans, pay bills, buy load, contactless payments, shopping through partner stores, exciting discounts, and so much more.

Home Credit’s one-minute approval for loan applications is known as the fastest in the industry. Including simple requirements, interested borrowers can apply in partner retail stores all over the country. As the pandemic pushed us to convert to contactless means, Marketplace – one of the features of My Home Credit App – was introduced as the one-stop shop to browse big-ticket items, compare deals and products, and apply for loans, all within the app. Redefining the traditional way of shopping and the buy now pay later experience of Filipino consumers, they are the first consumer finance provider to offer pre-approval in the mobile app.

Newest Home Credit app: QWARTA

Beyond offering easy installments, Home Credit now offers easy payments. With the introduction of its newest payment option Qwarta, Home Credit customers will be given as much as P10,000 additional spending limit within the app to increase their purchasing power. Qwarta can be used to pay bills without additional cost, shop or buy load with discounts, or purchase via QR Code.

The Home Credit app now houses telco load from all networks, over 200 billers, and can also scan QR codes at 50,000+ partner brands and merchants nationwide, allowing customers to stretch their budget on countless shopping scenarios. And even better news, by using the app at selected stores, customers can enjoy up to 50% off through its SMILE discounts program.

Home Credit’s financial literacy campaign has also evolved through the years. For the longest time, they have made it their purpose to teach the basics of budgeting and saving to ordinary Filipinos through the ‘Juan, Two, Three‘ campaign. Staying true to this mission but having in mind the effects of the pandemic, they started leveraging on digital platforms to deliver financial literacy concepts through their official website, social media and mobile app – this time with their newest program dubbed as “DigitizEd”.

“Home Credit introduced a lot of firsts to the Philippine market, and this is a testament of how well we anticipate the needs of the consumers and continue to innovate our services and offerings to meet those demands. Having evolved over the past 8 years, we want to offer a 360° service and be your go-to partner for all your financial needs” said David Minol, Home Credit PH Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Celebrate with Home Credit as they turn 8 this year by keeping yourself posted on the latest announcements and special promos – one of which is the much-awaited awarding of their 8 millionth customer who will receive exciting prizes sponsored by (brand partner). For more information, visit www.homecredit.ph and follow Home Credit at www.facebook.com.homecreditph.

Follow these Self-Care Tips to Keep Yourself Happy and Healthy During the Busiest Time of the Year

October 28, 2021

Treat yourself to wellness items at Shopee’s Oct 30 Payday Sale and enjoy free shipping with no minimum spend, 30% bills cashback, and 30% off vouchers

The holidays bring us joy, but the season also marks one of the busiest and most demanding times of the year. While we look forward to our loved ones’ company, there are still plenty of tasks at hand: virtual parties to plan, a holiday shopping list to organize, and work to wrap up before we go on vacation.

If you want to maximize the holiday festivities, take some time to focus on your well-being. This is supposed to be the happiest time of the year, after all! Take it slow, decide which tasks to prioritize, and ask for help if you’re struggling with all the responsibilities on your plate.

Here are a few other tips to help you take it easy during the holidays:

Get enough sleep

A good night’s sleep equips you with enough energy to face the day. Wake up to better mornings by indulging in a luxurious at-home massage with Rest Easy Massager, which comes with an advanced heating function. Then snuggle in bed and relax any tense muscles with the ergonomic Hosh Memory Foam Pillow. Lastly, improve the air quality and add a relaxing ambiance to your room with the Fresh Air Wooden Humidifier.

Get your mind off work

It’s difficult to relax when your phone keeps pinging. If you can, disable notifications after working hours and try out new hobbies to take your mind off work. For instance, spend more time outdoors and try gardening. Ace Hardware Garden Tool Set, which includes a trowel, transplanter, and pruning shear, is perfect for budding green thumbs. If you’ve always wanted to explore the art of baking, Oster 6-Speed Hand Mixer will make each culinary experiment easier with its powerful 250-watt motor and chrome-plated beaters and dough hooks. Meanwhile, those interested in dabbling in photography should invest in Paperang Portable Thermal Printer for high-quality instant photos.

Build a self-care routine

Each day, take the time to pamper yourself and melt the stress away with personal care products. With glowing, hydrated skin, you’ve got one less thing to worry about! Start your skincare routine with the Garnier Cleanse Glow Trio. This serum, micellar water, and day cream set contains a concentrated Vitamin C formula to help even out your skin tone. Don’t forget to  treat your legs and arms to some loving too. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion protects dry skin with natural colloidal oatmeal blended with rich emollients.

Indulge in guilt-free me-time

Sometimes all you need to destress is leisurely me-time. Take a much-needed breather and release your pent-up stress using Nintendo Switch Console V2. Its new system features a vibrant seven-inch OLED screen, wide adjustable stand, dock with a wired LAN port, 64 GB of internal storage, and enhanced audio. Or sit back and binge-watch your favorite K-dramas on Avision Smart Digital LED TV, which features a 1366x786 display resolution. For quality audio, you can’t go wrong with Xiaomi 11T Pro. With its Dolby Atmos dual speakers, you can unwind while listening to your relaxation playlist.

Self-care means getting the best bang for your buck, too! To enjoy more deals at Shopee’s Oct 30 Payday Sale, check out with ShopeePay for safe and cashless payments. Hidilyn Diaz inspires the nation anew with her very own Kwentong Jollibee “Ginto”

October 26, 2021

When weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz won the country’s first gold medal after a near century-long wait at the Olympics, Filipinos from all over the globe rejoiced and celebrated her historic triumph. Hidilyn’s winning lift, which also set a new Olympic record, was a result of years of hard work, resilience, and dedication that she put into reaching her dream.

And this inspiring journey of Hidilyn—with all the challenges she had to overcome—is at the center of the latest Kwentong Jollibee short film entitled “Ginto”. Jollibee, in collaboration with its partner agency McCann Worldgroup Philippines, hopes to share Hidilyn’s story to bring joy and inspiration to every Filipino.

Looking back on her humble beginnings
Hidilyn vividly remembers when she first started training. “Ang gamit kong weights noon ay mga gallon ng tubig. Mayroon akong mahabang bakal, ‘yun ang bar ko, tapos sa magkabila ay mga bote na may lamang tubig o kaya buhangin,” said Hidilyn. There were a lot of challenges at the start of her career, she shared, and many instances when she wanted to give up. But these did not discourage her.

Her hard work paid off when she bagged the silver medal in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.

“Noong nanalo ako sa Rio, doon mas naging malinaw sa akin na maraming nakababatang atleta na nakatingin sa akin para sa inspirasyon. Kaya sabi ko, hindi ako pwedeng sumuko. Ilalaban ko hanggang makuha natin ang pinakamimithing ginto,” said Hidilyn.

Reliving her winning moment
To launch the short film “Ginto”, Jollibee held a virtual press conference last October 14. Seeing the film in full for the first time, the Olympic champion was touched to have witnessed her story from the lens of a viewer. “Naiyak po talaga ako, lalo na yung doon sa part na chini-cheer ako ng mga frontliners, ng mga bata. Masaya po ako na na-inspire.

Hidilyn Diaz gets emotional while watching her Kwentong Jollibee “Ginto” and the surprise greetings from her loved ones

The image of Hidilyn clenching her fists in victory will forever be remembered by the whole nation. With “Ginto”, she got to relive this moment, along with the challenges she had to overcome leading to the Tokyo Olympics.

Through “Ginto,” Hidilyn hopes to encourage people to use “lakas at puso”
In going through life’s challenges

When asked how it was like re-enacting her own journey, Hidilyn said, “Bumalik lahat ng emotions — ‘yung saya, ‘yung hirap, at ‘yung pagpapalakas ng mga tao na tumulong sa akin para maabot ko yung pangarap ko.” To her, starring in her own Kwentong Jollibee short film was like another chance to relive her winning moment. “Masaya dahil ibang experience din for me ‘yung mag-act and rewarding dahil nakita ko ‘yung personal journey ko through another lens,” she added.

Long-time Kwentong Jollibee and award-winning director Pepe Diokno said it was a great honor to work on this project. “I’ve done a lot of Kwentong Jollibee films, and each story is different. But what sets ‘Ginto’ apart is that it’s a story of a sports icon that’s being revealed to the world. Hidilyn’s journey to success is the inspiration we need in these difficult times, and I treasure that I was able to do it with her and of course, Jollibee,” shared Direk Pepe.

Beyond her golden win
Now, with multiple awards and recognition, what more does a Hidilyn Diaz dream of? “For me, gusto ko po makatapos ng aking studies,” she said. At present, Hidilyn is taking up Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. “Gusto ko po makuha ang aking diploma at makapag-develop pa ng training schools para sa mga aspiring na atleta gaya ko noong nag-uumpisa ako. Nandito pa rin ako kasi weightlifting ang passion ko at gusto kong i-share ito sa mga kabataan,” Hidilyn added. She also mentioned plans of setting up an outreach activity similar to a community pantry in the coming months.

Hidilyn’s Kwentong Jollibee special “Ginto” serves as a reminder that Filipinos can rise above challenges through “lakas at puso,” armed with the love and support of those around them.

Hidilyn’s celebrity Idol, Maja Salvador, warmly welcomes her to the Jollibee family

Feel the rush to keep going amid a pandemic

October 24, 2021

During this pandemic, we need to keep ourselves sane. The plan is simple: to move forward to keep the adventure going.

There are many stories of brave undertakings in these uncertain times. There are those who shifted careers as a delivery rider or online reseller after losing their jobs. There are also those who left the city life to work remotely or to pursue a simpler lifestyle.

For Paul Anthony Estares, he took the big leap of moving back to his hometown of Sorsogon from working as a full-time writer in Manila during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“When the lockdown was first implemented, it was an unsettling situation for someone like me who lives alone in Manila. The uncertainty was too much to bear. I knew that I needed to do something to alleviate the anxiety that I was feeling,” he said.

Paul felt the urge to do something. So, he kept moving—from relocating to biking solo almost every day in Sorsogon to fight boredom and feel a sense of normalcy.
“Just like almost everyone, the pandemic has really taken a toll on me. I needed to get myself out of the lockdown rut. I am lucky that my province has been very strict with visitors and returning locals. They were able to keep the cases at bay,” he shared.

“This allowed me to explore safely even amid quarantine restrictions. I am more physically active now than before the pandemic. I spend most of my afternoons either biking, jogging, or taking a quick dip in the beach. I also managed to climb a mountain full of leeches, camp in the woods, and enroll in tennis class with health and safety precautions, of course—all for the first time. And all of these were great antidotes to stress during the pandemic.”

Even amid a global health crisis, life goes on. Despite the varying pace, style, and living conditions, we can have the will and mindset to find ways to carry on.
This is the very essence of Mountain Dew. True to its slogan “Fuel for Adventure,” we and all other consumers are encouraged to have meaningful, formative experiences that fuel our youth, whatever situation we may find ourselves in.

“During these trying times, our only option is to move forward and take on more adventures. As you face life’s challenges, a bottle of Mountain Dew could be a good pair. This one-of-a-kind citrus-flavored beverage will give you the rush to keep going,” said Frederick D. Ong, president and chief executive officer of Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc. (PCPPI) —the exclusive manufacturer of PepsiCo beverages in the country.

Mountain Dew is available in 8 oz to 1L glass bottles, 250 ml to 330 ml cans, and 300 ml to 2.25L PET bottles. It also recently launched its new 850ml PET bottle serving in Luzon and

Las Hermanas slated for World Premiere on October 25

October 24, 2021

GMA Network's latest family drama series is slated to have its world premiere on October 25, 2021 at 2:30 PM right after "Eat Bulaga."

Three powerful and undoubtedly talented Kapuso stars - Yasmien Kurdi, Thea Tolentino, Faith Da Silva - lead the series as the Manansala sisters Dorothy, Minnie, and Scarlet respectively.

Yasmien Kurdi as Dorothy Manansala

When asked about her character, Yasmien said: "Matapang 'yung character ni Dorothy. Siya 'yung magba-balanse sa dalawang sisters niya para buo kami. Hindi niya hahayaan na magkawatak-watak ang Las Hermanas. Siya 'yung responsable, siya 'yung ate, siya 'yung laging nag-a-advise, siya 'yung laging uma-alalay at tumatayong magulang para sa mga kapatid niya."

“I am most proud of how all of us worked together,” Thea proudly beamed. “Walang nagsapawan ng eksena, lahat nagbibigayan at kapag sa times na hirap kami, nasusuportahan namin ang isa't isa. Hindi lang sa aming mga actor, kundi pati na rin sa mga direktor at mga staff.”

Thea Tolentino as Minnie Manansala

“I feel grateful for the trust that they have given me in this amazing project.” Faith said. “For sure, I got really pressured especially lahat ng co-actors ko ay mga batikan at award-winning. And this is my first lead show, so the pressure was really there but I just did my part. I'm just really grateful na on or off-screen, iba 'yung relationship namin nina Thea and Yasmien and I felt that I gained new sisters.”

Faith Da Silva as Scarlet Manansala

Dorothy, Minnie, and Scarlet's lives are turned upside down when their father died and left their family bankrupt. From their ostentatious and glamorous home, they had to move to a fishing village in the province with their mother. But another scandal ravages their family when their mother was suddenly arrested for several counts of estafa.

Lost and still grieving, the three sisters will try to take matters into their own hands. But their personalities and dreams clash and one unfortunate incident follows another. Suddenly, sacrifices have to be made and not all of them are willing to make it. When worse comes to worst, can Dorothy, Minnie, and Scarlet prove that blood is indeed thicker than water?

Las Hermanas is made more exciting by the Kapuso comeback of Albert Martinez as Lorenzo Ilustre, the charming, self-made businessman who will captivate the heart of Scarlet and be the root of the sisters' falling out.

“My takeaway from the series - respect women. You can't possess them and turn them the way you want. You have to accept them the way they are and not create a mold for them because that will never work. In a relationship, there should be two-way traffic all the time. One should understand the other, and one should understand the individuality of each partner." Albert advised.

Joining them is a powerhouse cast composed of: Jason Abalos as Gabriel Lucero, a handsome fish trader who eventually becomes Dorothy's boyfriend; Jennica Garcia as Brenda Macario, Gabriel's ex-girlfriend; Lucho Ayala as Ronald de Guzman, a street-smart orphan who will catch the interest of Minnie; veteran actresses Madeleine Nicolas as Josefa Manansala, the three sisters' loving grandmother; Melissa Mendez as Divine Sarmiento, Josefa's close friend.

Also portraying very special roles in the series are Rita Avila as Mildred Manansala, the matriarch of the Manansala family, and Leandro Baldemor as Fernando Manansala, the three sisters' father who will meet a tragic end.

Completing the cast are Rubi Rubi as Rowena, a woman with an ulterior motive to break the Manansala family apart; Robert Ortega as Berto Macario, a nosy barangay captain and Brenda's father; Orlando Sol as Francisco Ramos, long-time personal driver and bodyguard of Lorenzo; Coleen Paz as Kiwi Almeda, Scarlet's housemate.

The series is under the supervision of the GMA Entertainment Group headed by SVP for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable, FVP for Drama Redgie A. Magno, SAVP for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy, Senior Program Manager Camille D. Hermoso, and Executive Producer Erwin Hilado.

Las Hermanas is a product of the visionary minds of GMA's award-winning and highly talented creative team - Creative Director Aloy Adlawan; Creative Head RJ Nuevas; Creative Consultant Kit Villanueva-Zapata; Headwriter Geng Delgado; Writers Brylle Tabora and Nehemiarey Dallego; Brainstormers Tina Velasco, Cynthia Paz, and Rhoda Marino.

Director Monti Puno Parungao helms this exciting drama series together with associate director Patrick Ferrer.
