After nine years of "hiatus" in the music scene, we can now hear and watch the former vocalist of "Orange and Lemons" band, Mcoy Fundales and now a creative writer at GMA Network's "Pepito Manaloto," a comedy tv program starring Michael V.
Backtracking Mcoy's career with his former band, "Orange and Lemons," their single, "Hanggang Kailan (Umuwi kana baby), was a real hit back in the year 2005 and the millennials are also singing that song 'til present because it still play over the airwaves, in the commercials, movie or tv soundtracks. Not to mention their song "Pinoy Ako," which was used by the Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) as its tv theme song back then.
Most of us haven't heard from Mcoy ever since "Orange and Lemons" disbanded last October 2007, but he hasn't left singing at all after that incident, he formed a band called "Kenyo" in the year 2007 until present, they have been busy doing their gigs and other engagements outside our country. Another thing that we ought to know about Mcoy, is that, he found comfort in writing...
Mcoy said, "Na-miss ko rin kumanta. My last album was in 2010 so that's almost nine years na, I'm happy and excited kasi for five ti six years, nagsusulat ako for tv, at ngayon, nagre-record na ako ulit ng mga kanta." Actually the singer/songwriter is keeping himself busy by writing and producing shows for various GMA Network's shows like "Pepito Manaloto" and "StarStruck." He has but only good words to his mentor Michael V, who had inspired him so much to explore more of his skills in creative writing.
And today, he's back and doing what he considers a "dessert" (music), or a "wonderful break from writing." He also shared, "This is my hobby what I always wanted. Itong pagkanta kasi mahal ko at gusto kong gawin. I'm excited to promote this single." And the "single" that he's talking about is entitled, "Bakit Kita Hahabulin?" under altG Records. The song is a "modern kundiman," composed by Kian Dionisio. Mcoy was attracted to this song since it tackles various feelings. From my own point and observation, I think it also sounded like some of "Apo Hiking Society's" songs, which I found very amusing and pleasing to the ears and it's also a bit theatrical.
During his blogcon, we were also privileged to watch Mcoy's music video of "Bakit Kita Hahabulin?" And true to what he had relayed to us, that we should also watch the video's end credits like most of the present films that's being streamed in cinemas, because the answer to the title of his song, will be shown during the end credits. And we were really surprised and thought that it was a witty and funny "punchline" as I may say it and very raw!

I've only seen and watched this teener from Ilo-ilo during her "The Clash" days, and being an alumna of the reality talent show, that means you've made a "mark" in the music scene. When I first sawKyryll, my first impression was she was a shy lass and that her towering height really did help her to be noticed at once.
The moment she belted out her first single, "Silent Rumblings" under altG Records, we couldn't help but to admire her singing style, she came out really strong and powerful. Yes, she's a soul singer but in a modern way. She sounded like an international singer if you would just listen to her song and pretend that you don't know her.
This girl was raised by his lolo, while her parents as working abroad; her mom was a singer in a band touring the Asian cities then and her father is a seaman. She's very grateful to her grandfather for he had taught her how to sing, play guitar and basketball (no wonder, she's so tall). And her signing-up with altG Records, is one of the her greatest achievements she said, after joining GMA Network's "The Clash," her music could be heard and reached international market.
I find Kyryll's voice so striking and powerful! Her own style and rendition of songs would really leave a special mark on every listener's meticulous ears. I can still remember her performance in "The Clash" when she sang "Say Something." She really did an awesome job there by giving the song a different rendition and twist. Plus she also has a wide vocal range, she can belt it out, she can do rap songs and soft soulful songs...
She said, "I am very honored to be releasing a single. Dati nangangarap lang ako na maging isang recording artist and now, it's finally here. Nagpapasalamat ako sa GMA Network, GMA Artist Center and altG Records for believing in me." She also shared that, "If there's one word to describe thesong, it would be soulful. The "Ai H.E.A.R.T. RCBN" benefit concert will serve as the gift or Thanksgiving of the Diocese of Novaliches to His Excillency Antonio R. Tobias since he'll be retiring as the their Bishop (Diocese of Novaliches). The said concert will also celebrate , her 30th Anniversary in show business. She also said that, she understands that some of the guests she requested or ask to participate would not be available on the said day, since the schedule for the tapings in GMA Network falls every Monday, Wednesday and Friday but she's still hoping for the possibility of surprise guests to appear.

On the other hand, Ms. Ai's latest movie, "Feelennial" (feeling millennial) with Bayani Agbayani, is a sure-fire riot, I myslef had watched and really enjoyed the whole film. You can see the zany chemistry of Ms. Ai and Bayano in the screen which is no wonder, they have been friends for a long time and that this will be the first time for both of them to work together in a movie.
In her 30 years of being the the showbiz industry, Ms. Ai also expressed her gratitude to ABS-CBN and Star Cinema for being part of the movie "Ang Tanging Ina" and its accompanying sequels, she considered it as one of her greatest milestones, she stated that, if not for her exposure and the success of the movie, she will not be able to last for 30 years in showbiz and have a successful career as well. She also shared that, after nine years, she'll be having a movie that is set to join the MMFF 2019 official entries.

Just recently, we had the privilege to be invited to the advanced screening of the "Feelennial" movie starring the zany tandem of the Comedy and Box Office Queen Ms. Ai-Ai delas Alas and versatile comedian and host Bayani Agbayani held at the Red Carpet Cinema of Shangrila Plaza in Mandaluyong City.
The director Rechie del Carnen with the "Feelennial" and Ms. Pops Fernandez of DSL Events and Productions, Inc. and the movie cast present during the advanced screening, Arvic Tan, Jelai Andres, Ms. Ai-Ai delas Alas, her daughter Sophia delas Alas, Raffy Roque and Skelly Skelly.
The cast were introduced to us before the screening started and some of them were not that familiar for us, so I got curious and felt more interested on how will they perform and get away with the big names like Ms. Ai-Ai and Bayani....

Please don't feel discouraged or feel-bored when at first you find the first few scenes of the movie to be not that fast-paced as we expect a romantic-comedy film like "Feelennial" to be like that. We were so glad that it slowly picked up as the different characters of the story began to show up on the screen. You may find the plot of the movie to be shallow at first, yes, but once you were in it and felt all the chemistry and the wacky scenes, I will tell you, you'll be "hooked" guys!!!
Ms. Ai-Ai's character as Madame Bato-Bato could also be me, you, or anyone here she's so relatable to some, most especially when she's doing stuff like most of the millennials do like being addicted to slefies, groupfies, going on live, having several posts in social media everyday, donning her OOTD's (Outfit Of The Day) and a lot more! She has a lot of followers in her social media accounts that's is why, it is not a surprise if she's also one of the influential people to consider.

Ai-Ai plays the role of Madame Bato-bato, a rich single mom who has everything she needs except the attention of her only son Nico, played by actor-model Arvic Tan. She tries to do the activities that her millennial son is into to gain the latter’s attention. In one of her feelennial activities – online dating, she meets Chito (Bayani’s character), a rich bachelor who recently won a huge sum via lotto jackpot.

To continue, Madame Bato-Bato may all have the glory and richness of the society, she dresses well, had a very luxury lifestyle but it seemed like one important "thing" is missing in her life. Until she meet this "masked guy" who's Chito played by Bayani Agbayani, whom she accidentally fell during a party in a posh bar. From then on, she felt she deserves to have another chance in love and the search for the "mask man" began with the help of another wacky character, her assistant Dua played by singer/ comedian Nar Cabico and girlfriends Tahoma, Cambria, Aerial and Sophia.
Their
first encounter doesn’t turn out too well, and what ensues is a flurry of
mishaps and misadventures, pitting De las Alas and Agbayani into funny, yet
thought-provoking situations on how romance and family dynamic has changed in
today’s society.
Both Ai-Ai and Bayani are surrounded at work by a young
group of stars and production people, whose millennial habits they have
somewhat imbibed as well. These include cast members Nar Cabico as Dua, Ina
Feleo as Tahoma, Nicole Donesa as Cambria, Jelai Andres as Aerial, Sofia delas Alas as
Sophia, Skelly Skelly asDope, Micah

Both Ai-Ai and Bayani said they find playing their roles in
the movie a breeze as they can fully relate to their characters. With four
grown-up children, Ai-Ai has always practiced the millennial vibe as she is
into #ootd’s, constantly takes selfies and groufies, and regularly uploads
these on her social media accounts. Bayani is also a certified “titolennial.” Married for over two
decades to his wife Lenlen, he gets his inspiration from their four young millennial
daughters. What I really can't forget about this hilarious film was the fact that, once you start to laugh, it's non-stop, I swear!!! I've also learned from Ms. Ai-Ai that, she's been friends with Bayani ever since she started her showbiz career, and now that she's reached her 30 years in showbiz, this is the very first time that the two of them did a movie together and she admitted that she didn't expect that their closeness and chemistry off-cam registered well on-screen and I must say, they were so zany, riotous, wacky and lovable at the same time!!! I would like to give you a tip... their beach scene was insane hahaha I can still hear my voice still laughing as well as Ms. Ai-Ai's laugh while we were watching their movie echoed inside the cinema! I would also like to share the humorous tandem of Ms. Ai-Ai and Nar Cabico! I tell you, they make one helluva wacky duo/tandem/friends. Most especially during those scenes when Madame Bato-Bato tells Dua to "Hanapin mo sa loob ng bag ko..." or "Hanapin mo sa damuhan..." you were wondering what is there to look for? Well, you'll get the answers if you watch their "Feelennial" movie. And do look forward to their sofa scene, if Bayani and Ms. Ai have a beach scene, Nar and Ms. Ai-Ai have a sofa scene hahaha do watch it guys it's a real treat and go with your friends or families it's gonna be more fun and enjoyable, promise!!!

Chucky, the killer doll many of us have grown to love or hate, is back. However, this time around, he’s not just a soul of a serial killer living inside a doll, waiting for a chance to become human again. He’s in fact, a product of what could really happen fast forward with all the advancements of technology we’re now enjoying… which makes it even scarier.
Produced by the same team that brought “IT” (2017)—now the highest-grossing horror movie of all-time---Child’s Play (2019) is a contemporary re-imagining of the 1988 horror classic. It follows Karen (Aubrey Plaza), a single mother who gifts her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature. Mark Hamill, the “Luke Skywalker” in the “Star Wars” films, and also known as the voice of “The Joker” in the original “Batman: The Animated Series”, will be voicing the character of "Chucky."
CHILD’S PLAY is directed by Lars Klevberg and produced by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg on behalf of KatzSmith Productions (It, It: Chapter 2). The screenplay is by Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury, Quantum Break video game) based on characters created by Don Mancini. Aaron Schmidt and Chris Ferguson serve as executive producers. The creative team includes director of photography Brendan Uegama (“Riverdale,” “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”), production designer Dan Hermansen (“Supernatural,” “A Series of Unfortunate Events”), editor Tom Elkins (Anabelle, The Prodigy), costume designer Jori Woodman (The Boy, Final Destination), composer Bear McCreary (Happy Death Day, 10 Cloverfield Lane, “The Walking Dead,” “Battlestar Galactica”), and music supervisor group Hit The Ground Running (The First Purge, “Gotham,” "Rupture").
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
Producer Seth Grahame-Smith was 12 years old when the original CHILD’S PLAY was released and remembers being absolutely terrified by it, then watching it again and again. “I’ve been a fan ever since."
So when MGM and Orion Pictures brought up the idea that they wanted to update the original movie, Grahame-Smith and fellow producer David Katzenberg were initially apprehensive. “We didn’t want to just remake the 1988 movie, which is a horror classic that introduced the world to one of greatest horror villains of all time. We wanted to introduce something new to it, something relevant to today’s audiences."
They thought long and hard about what that might be. We live in a world where cameras and microphones are everywhere, and where our appliances talk to each other. Everything is interconnected. “We got excited by what it would mean for Chucky, if he were not just a kid’s toy but a really high end AI product, like something you’d see from Apple or Amazon or Google — a child companion. What would happen if something with so much computing power and connectivity went bad, what would the possibilities be?” The producers then got excited about having something new to say, well-aware of the responsibility they had to long-time fans.
The upgraded Chucky [here] is far more advanced, adds Grahame-Smith, “he has more ways to kill you.” He now has the ability to access other devices and look through them, and he can take over thermostats, vehicles, robot vacuums. “He can use anything at his disposal to terrorize and kill you.” Meet Chucky 2.0 .
SINISTER TECH
“I’ve got something for you,” says Plaza as Karen to Andy in a scene, but she breaks character to add: “It’s an evil doll that’s going to kill us.” But whilst the original Chucky was a serial killer who terrorized us through the body of a doll, the Chucky of 2019’s CHILD’S PLAY is one that plays on our fears today.
“We really do give our lives to these machines, everything’s in a cloud now and we are possessed by these belonging,” says Tyree Henry. “That’s something that’s so fascinating about the reimagining of CHILD’S PLAY— even the adults are susceptible to the CHILD’S PLAY of it all…we are pretty much slaves to technology."
He recalls a story he’d read about a child’s first words being Alexa because the child has heard the parents so much. “He probably thought it meant I love you,” says Tyree Henry. “I always have a weird time seeing a kid just go ‘hello google do this, ok google turn this…’ — they have more of a relationship with these machines than they do with actual human beings."
One thing that Tyree Henry really responded to in the script was just how much we as the audience end up emphasizing with Chucky. “I care about Chucky a lot in this movie. He’s a product, but he’s also a product of the programming and that’s what’s so sad about it. This doll has been programmed to be the best friend to this kid — it’s kind of a love story in a way,” he says with a laugh, “Chucky has many emotions and he’s learning —when it starts to learn things is when it starts to be terrifying."
The message of the movie hits a chord with Plaza, too. “I have a very personal disgust of the technology and devices we’re all addicted to,” she says, “it’s not very apparent now what kind of affect it’s having on society but eventually I think we’ll look. Fans of “IT” (2017), together with fans of the original “CHILD’s PLAY” franchise (and of CHUCKY himself) should prepare for a wild kind of terror Chucky, the killer doll, has in store. Distributed by Reality Entertainment and Cobalt Productions in the Philippines, Child’s Play will be shown for the first time in the country via a Special Advance Screening on June 17, 2019 Monday 7pm at SM Megamall, in partnership with MYX, Wave 89.1 and SM Cinemas, with media partners CNN Philippines and WheninManila.com Child’s Play hits Philippine theaters June 20, a day ahead of its US Release.
