The unstoppable San Jose Del Monte continues to rise up!

The hardworking and multi-awarded Mayor Arthur Robes and Congresswoman Florida "Rida" Robes of San Jose Del Monte City

Before, when people say the place San Jose Del Monte, most especially this particular location called Sapang Palay, the common notion would be... it is a relocation site. It is a place where different people from different cities or nearby towns in the Metro dwell. These informal settlers began their new life in these so-called "relocation sites" making San Jose Del Monte's local government to cope up with this situation.

But that was before... if you will be visiting or passing by through SJDM today, (which we did), you can see an absolute and drastic change in its local industry, be it a business, government office, schools, hospitals, different establishments, and the like. You will be able to see road widenings, roas construction, re-constructions, innovations, big and small investments, modern facilities and modernized infrastructures and machineries... all these contibute to SAN JOSE DEL MONTE as "THE RISING CITY."

Kudos to the very passionate, optimistic, industrious and diligent tandem of #TeamRobes who are SJDM City's Mayor Art Robes and Congresswoman Rida Robes. We were given this rare and great opportunity to ttalk to the beauteous couple and have a tour with them around the Sapang Palay CDRRMO (City Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office).

First, let us all learn the brief background of SJDM:

The City of San Jose del Monte (SJDM) comprises 59 barangays and encompasses a total land area of 10,553 hectares (based on data from the Land Management Bureau). The Local Government Unit (LGU), however, claims an actual territorial area of 31,294 hectares which include disputed land areas with adjacent municipalities. Based on the National Statistics Office Survey, SJDM registered a population of 315,807 in 2000.
Located at the northeast periphery of Metro Manila, the City is bounded by the Bulacan municipalities of Marilao and Santa Maria on the west, and Norzagaray on the north. Quezon province lies to its east, Rizal Province to its southeast and Kalookan City to its south. Quirino Highway serves as the main road which allows SJDM access to Norzagaray on the north and Kalookan City on the south. The City is likewise accessible from Santa Maria on its west via the Santa Maria-Tungkong Mangga Provincial Road.
SJDM was proclaimed the first City of Bulacan on 10 September 2000. In the Provincial Physical Framework Plan for 1998 to 2007, about one third of the City is proposed as an Urban Expansion Area. This same area lies along the Norzagaray-SJDM Growth Corridor, one of the three growth corridors proposed for the province of Bulacan.
