Upon seeing Atty. Angelo in person, we were amazed by his towering height. Who wouldn't be surprised by his towering height of 6'6" !!! During our "getting to know" session with him, he was so apologetic for being late for he had to submit some papers and fix things with the COMELEC for he was being accused of being a nuisance candidate for the upcoming Senatorial elections next year. 

As the meet and greet deepens, we were able to get to know him better. Here are some of his details and brief background of the senatorial candidate. 

Atty. Angelo de Alban was raised in Bulacan and grew up surrounded by people who are underprivileged. Due to his natural curiosity to heights, he had to undergo two head stitches surgeries for falling from three-floor high tree house and a mango tree. We could tell that he is really that curious and adventurous, maybe because owing to his very young age. 

No wonder he's at present a lawyer and an educator, coming from a family of both fields and profession. His grandfather is a lawyer while his grandmother is a public school teacher. His father is also a lawyer and his mother is a former flight stewardess and purser with Philippine Airlines, she is now a public school catechist. All his three other siblings and sister-in-law are teachers.

The 37-year old senatorial candidate graduated in St. Mary's College of Meycauayan, Bulacan as their High School Student Council President in 1998. He then continued his studies in University of Sto. Tomas and took up Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Law and Masters of Law. 

I can now fully understand Sir Angelo's plight and affinity to the media people. During the meet and greet, he had mentioned that, if he'll be elected as Senator, he'll protect and serve the rights of the mediamen as well as the bloggers. 

While attending college, he was a member of the chorale, varsity player for both basketball and football teams. He has his on-the-job training with the Manila Times. He was also a working scholar in UST and a part-time freelance model during his college days. He also sold discount cards, writing articles for different magazines and rendering paralegal assistance to earn a living.

He was a writer for the Varsitarian, the official student publication of UST. He had his law-on-the-job training with now Supreme Court Justice Lucas P. Bersamin. 

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:

As a LAWYER:

Angelo handles criminal and civil cases around the country traveling to Cebu, Palawan and Cagayan de Oro regularly. He was the lawyer for a group of public teachers in Laguna victimized by loan sharks and lawyered for at least 200 security guards and had won almost Php 4M settlement for them. 

As a TEACHER:

He started teaching Philippine Constitution, Taxation and Tourism Laws in his Alma Mater, University of Sto. Tomas in 2008 up to the present. He married his former student whom we've met during the event and she's a Chinese national.

In 2008, few months into teaching, Angelo co-founded with his family members a school for children with special needs. St. Philomena School: Kid's Comfort Zone, Inc. St. Philomena School is the only private school for special education recognized by the Department of Education in entire Bulacan province.

FITNESS/HEALTH 

Mr. Albano is a health buff, who practices regular work out and exercise and healthy diet to achieve maximum physical and mental potentials. He goes to the gym regularly. Everyday, he rides a twenty-niner mountain bicycle to complement his height in going to the gym or simply just to buy something from the market. 

In my observation of Atty. Angelo's personality, I could see that since he's an educator, he is more inclined to do the "right" thing you know, since he comes from a family of educators also, he is more likely to be a good role model and and influencer. I can also see that he has a good heart and a helping hand who's willing to do anything as long as it will not push him to the limit or would step on anyone's foot. I guess he's gentle enough inspire his towering height. Thus, he is "The Gentle Giant" of the Senate (hopefully).
