Destiny Rose: A One-of-a-kind tale of a transsexual woman

Transsexual: a person whose gender identity is the binary opposite of their biological sex, who may undergo medical treatments to change their biological sex, often times to align it with their gender identity, or they may live their lives as the opposite sex; often confused with “trans-man”/”trans-woman” 

Before, when we hear about third sex, homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, gays and other gender identities, we tend to withdraw ourselves from this delicate topic.

The Pinoys don't usually engage in this issue before. And we are not that fully aware that there exists such numerous gender identities.  I grew up knowing only about lesbians and gays aside from of course the male and female genders and it stopped there. Sometimes, people also tend to show discrimination towards the third sex. 

But today, in this modern and very open society, there's free will, more liberty and a lot of understanding. The so-called "closet queens" can now come up and spread their wings. Same sex relationships are somewhat accepted by the society, I guess the members of the "third sex" can now confidently come up and convince their families and everyone around them that they have to accept his personality and love them for who they are and what they had become. 

I know you've been hearing about the LGBT community or the gay community right? Actually, it stands for L- lesbian, G- gay, B- bisexual and T- transgender, a supportive group of people or organization that believes and practices gender equality, pride, diversity, individuality and sexuality. 

Public awareness about different gender identities is slowly emerging and aside from the LGBT group, which I mentioned above, there's also some additional types : LGBPTTQQIIAA+ which stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Pansexual, Transgender, Transsexual, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Intergender, Asexual, Ally

I've been so curious about all of these types, most especially the not-so-common ones, good thing that there's this new tv program that caters to "transsexuals." Not only that we get to know more about this type of gender identity, but we can also learn how they go through life, their struggles, their innermost feelings and thoughts, dreams, hopes... how they express their love and how they were able to survive all these. 

Kudos to GMA Network that I'm pretty sure, they'll definitely reach out wide audience and will be able to spread more public awareness and understanding about "transsexuality." 

GMA Entertainment TV offers a game-changing character-driven story in "Destiny Rose," which started last Monday, September 14, 2015.

A heart-warming tale of love and family, Destiny Rose will beautifully demonstrate that in one’s ability to love also lies great power to become the person one dreams to be.

Multi-talented actor Ken Chan will delight Afternoon Prime viewers as he takes the challenge of portraying a transsexual woman who pursues her dreams into becoming an influential writer. Ken participated in a series of auditions and delivered a string of thrilling and convincing performances all throughout, making him the perfect choice for the role to become Joey Flores Vergara.

Joey is a woman trapped in a man’s body. All his life, he only dreamt and hoped to be the best for his parents. Despite the fact that everyone around him was against his personal desires and wishes, he remained to be the loving and obedient child.

 A passionate student and a loving son to his family, Joey will go through different setbacks in life but will continue to be patient and understanding.

All these positive qualities will outweigh life’s challenges and Joey will become a stronger person in her new life as Destiny Rose.

As time passed, Joey faced more challenges in his journey to becoming a renowned writer and a full-fledged woman. Joey is now known as Destiny Rose.

Now that Destiny Rose has fulfilled her dreams, all she wants is to be with the love of her life and for her family to be complete once again. But what if her family, especially her estranged father, refuses to accept her? And what if the love of her life finds out that she only had sex reassignment surgery to become a woman? Will Destiny Rose still find happiness?

Playing opposite Ken is Fabio Ide as Gabriele Antonioni, Joey’s Fil-Italian penpal. He will make Joey/Destiny Rose’s life more colourful as he becomes her one true love.
