Taters at its Grandest! #LeGrand20

The grandest anniversary festival celebration of Taters happened a day after my birthday! The 20th anniversary of Taters was held at the Trinoma activity center, on the night of August 28, 2014. You must be thinking how did they turn the whole place into a grandiose ambiance and that everything else was there? Kudos to the organizers and the special people behind that grand celebration, they turned the activity center into a magnificent, magical- like venue that everyone else was in awe by just merely seeing the entrance alone! It was so admirable and we all felt like a kiddo  entering the circus-like festivity!

Can you see those two 'Tall Men" inviting us at the entrance? hihi

I guess that was the "feeling" that they're trying to imply on their guests. To be like a kid again, have the liberty to consume as much as munchers, burgers, hotdog sandwiches, popcorns, fries, chips, totillas,  different beverages as we can... have fun, watch the show, participate in the games and activities, have our pictures taken at the photo booth... in short, be merry and have a good time as if there is no tomorrow! hahaha

Upon entering, me and my friends were given VIP tags, that looked like this.

Feeling so overwhelmed by what we have witnessed right in front of our eyes, we all hurriedly grabbed some food that was readily available from each respective food booths. That was the first time that I've experienced a "snacks and drinks overload" and it was no ordinary snacks, everything's from Taters Snack League!

You see, every time we watch  movies, there's always a long line of customers wanting to buy and munch out on Taters while watching the movie, you'll just think and wonder why do this people (including us) have so much patience in waiting for their cue, right? What could Taters have that customers tend to really stick on them and cling on them? Let me share you my thoughts: It's because, aside from the very good quality of the products, Taters is being considered as the only branded "premiere entertainment snack establishment" here in the Philippines. Another good point also is that Taters staff can also deliver your orders right to your cinema seats, just present your movie tickets guys. See, how convenient, right? ;-)

Going back to the celebration, (hehe) my point was, we were all rewarded! We did not have to wait much for our cues, we can grab everything we want! It was a sort of like a food trip galore as in major, major league (hehe). And what are you supposed to do if you have a tag such as this one?

It says, "Entitles the user to unlimited snacks, drinks and games." See what I mean? ;)

Since the show hasn't started yet, I took the chance to take some photos from the event so you'll somehow have an idea of what it looked like being in a different world. I felt like Alice, the main character in  "Alice in Wonderland" that time, to tell you honestly, it was like we've stepped into a different dimension that we were all there, unmindful of all the stress from the outside world, and all we ever thought of was to eat, have fun, fill our hearts with joy and celebrate with Taters!!!

People patiently waiting for the show to start. Some are still having their snacks. See the splashy stage? :))

Here's the Hotdogs, Tortillas, Onion Rings and Munchers station. BTW, I've tried their Mexican munchers, it goes perfectly well with sour cream dip and I liked it! The beef hotdogs were so juicy!

The Burgers, House Fryes and Tater Chips booth. Churkey burger, anyone? A Churkey burger  was a combination of chicken and turkey in a burger patty. If you haven't tried it yet, then you should!

This is where I get my fave cheese-flavored House Fryes and Taters Chips. Ohhh, now I miss them all! I want, I want! ;))

Of course, we all need some drinks! I ordered for a sugar-free lemonade! There are actually more choices; Pepsi products and a variety of iced tea beverages were also available if you could see in this picture. I also tried red iced tea, actually.

I was not able to furnish a clear copy of the popcorn booth but unlimited popcorn was also readily available! I got a pack of cheese-flavored popcorn. Everything was actually #unlimited . The night was full of unlimited food, drinks, laughter, games, prizes, adventure, spectacular show and everything that will make you wish that the night won't come to an end.

While I was touring the whole area, I was so caught up and got engaged until I bumped into a very friendly Mime artist, look what he asked me to do, and I totally got his hand gestures huh, well, that was so simple... look!

He wanted to have a #LeGrand20 #selfie photo with me hahaha

Wanna try the Popcorn Drive? Are you ready to be drowned in a compartment filled with popcorn? hihi

Do you want to "Fill My Burger?" Game!

If you want to test your power, "Mister Strengthman" is the right game for you!

For every game, you get the chance to win tickets, then claiming of the prizes happens here at the ticket and prize booth.

All those games including the "Pop Thy Corn," "Pepsi Tac Toe" and "Onion Ring Toss," made the whole fair even more fun and exciting plus the photo booth if I may add. Me and my gurlfriends who are also bloggers, were so much engrossed in chatting while munching that's why when we 6were about to join the games, the show finally started.

For a fresh, bombastic start, they all caught our attention. These performers did a modern opera type of singing that earned a lot of praises from the audience. Bravo, bravo!!!

Another operatic performance by these guys while the sexy belles were dancing

There was also an array of world class carnival performances:

Talk about #unlimited , they have an unlimited balance and discipline! Whew! Bravo!!!

Uh oh, too risky, but they passed with flying colors!

The audience were very much glued to the spectacular show happening. I guess we can commit to one thinking that we were all very impressed!

Final bow of the amazing performers. Encore, encore, encore! They really got me, indeed! Job well done everyone! From what I've learned, they also perform at the Resorts World Manila. So, if you wanna check them out, you know where to find them. ;)

So, do you think that was the final moment of the night? Nuh uh... for the first time, I get to see the founder & president of Taters who primarily made all these things possible and successful plus also with the help and support of her family, relatives, friends and staff.

Madam Annie Tanchanco,  Founder and President of Taters Enterprises, Inc.

During Madam Annie's speech, she wishes to thank everyone including their suppliers, their partners, the crew and everyone who had helped Taters reach this far. She's looking forward to a bigger and better Taters in the next 20 years to come.

Madam Annie together with her family on stage initiating the blowing up and popping out of popcorn pouches during the final ceremony of Taters' 20th anniversary celebration

She requested the guests to smash those air-filled popcorn pouches because according to her, "We're going to end this with a bang for more triumph, more joy, more excellence and innovation to come!"

The guests interestingly heed her request

Applause! Congratulations and happy 20th anniversary Taters family!!!

Me and my blogger-friends Angelyn Demo, Bedalyn Aguas and Gracee Bongolan

We all had the grandest ever celebration where everything else was overflowing, unlimited, overloaded and free! I can never forget Taters 20th anniversary celebration where I also get to have a sort of post birthday bonding with my friends, yey! Thanks Gracee for the Vanilla birthday Cupcake! Just like Taters, I wish to have more triumph, also great health, happiness and more blessings to share in the next infinite years to come! Thank you Lord for all the love, guidance and blessings... and of course special thanks to my very loving family. Thank you Taters, hope to be invited again next year! hihi

True enough, it was a celebration of TATERS at its Grandest! #LeGrand20

*** Taters has an ongoing promo called "Le Grand Treats" and it will run until September 15, 2014. If you wish to join, just go to their Facebook page and hope you'll "like" it as well. ***

TATERS TRIVIA:

Taters Enterprises Inc. has recently been confirmed as an awardee of the Philippine Quality Challenge (PQC) Challenge II.

The PQC offers small medium enterprises an opportunity to be part of the Philippine Quality Awards (PQA). This recognizes organizational improvement and performance excellence on a national level to achieve world-class standards comparable to the Malcom Baldridge National Quality Award of the US and those in Europe and Asia.

Taters achieved this milestone in its first year only of applying for the PQC. It also happens to be the first company in the food industry here in the Philippines to receive level II recognition by the PQC.

Founder and President Tater Enterprises, Inc., Annie Tanchanco states,"I think our culture of innovation and improvement for the past twenty years has allowed us to get to this level in our organization and the PQC recognition is just another example of our commitment to excellence."

From Humble Beginnings

Taters' twentieth year anniversary serves as a tribute to the entrepreneurial drive of the Filipino. Founded in 1994 by Tanchanco, the first Taters stall was located in a cramped mall space measuring only 8.5 sq. m. "The store initially carried three products - popcorn, peanuts and fries. At that time, there were no other branded food outlets in the cinemas, only the generic popcorn concessionaires. Taters became the first branded entertainment snack store," explains Tanchanco.

The very first Taters stall in Greenbelt

Taters has since then included other snack items that has defined its innovative approach to the snack industry. A wide selection of toppings and dips that go great with any order, premium New York Beef Hotdogs, and healthy choices such as Tofu chips and tuna mushroom sandwiches have raised the bar for the entertainment snacking in the Philippines.

Founder & President Annie Tanchanco together with Taters crew

Tireless hours and sleepless nights have allowed Taters to become the premiere entertainment food provider it is today. With 23 outlets across the country, it is still the only branded entertainment snack food establishment in the Philippines today and is further expanding its reach to other possibilities beyond cinema snacks.

KooBits makes Math easy for our kids

Yes, I absolutely agree that Math is one of the toughest subjects that we learn from school. It may not be everybody's favorite but for some, it is. Based on my experience with my son, I really didn't have a hard time teaching him his mathematical subjects, actually, modesty aside, he always gets high grades and sometimes he either perfects his scores in the tests/ exams or he only had few mistakes.

Well, that is something that I am really thankful for. Since he is so good in Math, we decided that probably it is better for him to take up E.C.E. (Electronics and Communications Engineering) in one of the prestigious schools here in Metro Manila. Actually, he is now on his second year and a scholar, thank God ;))

But what about those parents who are having difficulties in looking for ways or much easier means for their kids to learn math? Are you one of them? Or do you know anyone who are into that kind of situation? You know what, dear amazing readers, wanna tell you that, you're reading the right article! This is the perfect time to tell you that, KooBits, a group of innovative educators and technologists developing digital tools and platforms to help children learn better, offers a happier ending through its latest product, ProblemSums.

It transforms Math problem-solving into daily learning activities, and enables students to tackle Math challenges as and when they are free and willing, yet retain the element of competition.

At the same time, ProblemSums responds to the technology boom in smartphones and tablet computers which has transformed lifestyles and created a lot of opportunities for learning on-the- go.

Stanley Han, Koobits Pte. Ltd. Singapore CEO, talks about Motivation Dynamics and how it’s making learning more fun for kids

“There is an increasing need to re-design traditional learning systems and content delivery to cater to a world where mobile technologies are proliferating,” says Stanley Han, the CEO and co-founder of Personal e-Motion Pte Ltd/ KooBits. “Lifestyles have shifted away from the time when learners had a couple of uninterrupted hours to immerse themselves in educational activities."

Han observes that a student's time is being eroded by things outside of education in the modern world. "We want to redesign our content to cater to the new lifestyle in order to effectively engage today’s digital natives,” he says.

Designed to cultivate the potential of children in the subject, ProblemSums features challenging word problems as well as a differentiated skills map to maximize their level of proficiency.

Giselle Toengi-Walters talks about her wonderful experience with Koobits

“Each question from standard skills has 100 variations with their context, objects, quantities, and answers change with different permutations,” explains Loh Cheng Yee, chief education consultant for the KooBits Math portal. “But each one follows a consistent problem-solving pattern.”

The questions also go beyond the fill-in-the blank format as individual problem-solving process is documented, notes Yee, who has authored several texts and workbooks for primary schools.

A teacher in Catholic High School and Hwa Chong Institution for 18 years, she also highlights the importance of immediate feedback mechanisms in ProblemSums as well as the inclusion of homework, tests, and auto-checking to guide the students. Official Math Olympiad questions were added to challenge them.

“The non-routine high-ability questions aim to stretch students’ thinking and deepen their understanding. And every topic has sub-topics for a variety of question types so we provide detailed analysis of their proficiency,” says Yee, also a member of the Question Committee of the Singapore-Asia Pacific Mathematical Olympiad for Primary Schools (AMPOPS).

Against expectation, technology does not constrain the proven benefits of personalized learning or traditional classroom teaching. Similarly, ProblemSums enables individual performance analysis, while students can even form study groups to encourage both collaboration and healthy competition.

“Koobits tackled the most difficult part of a child’s learning journey—motivation. By letting a child compete for top honour, my daughter is motivated to become the highest scorer and was actually learning along the way without knowing that she was actually learning,” admits Koh Shoon Kuan, parent of Koh Kai Qi of Anchor Green Primary School, a ProblemSums patron. “She plays and learns. It is great!”

Operations Director Julienne Sison-Vital; Program Director Joanne Tabora-Sison , CEO and Marketing Director Ina Sehwani; partners at Koobits Philippines and Expolrarium Co Ltd, and educational services provider in the Philippines.

The Koobits Team

Hope dear parents that this blogpost can be helpful to you and your kids. As the saying goes, will do anything for the sake of our kids, right? As long as it would not cause us any harm and it's for the "betterment" of our kids, after all. Why don't you try it, so you'll discover that KooBits makes Math easy for our kids and us, too!  ;))

Talk Back and You're Dead: Another Phenomenal Movie

"Talk Back and You're Dead" cast: Yassi Pressman, direk Andoy Ranay, James Reid, Nadine Lustre, screenplay writer Ms. Keiko Aquino and novelist Alesana Marie during the movie's grand presscon

Remember the Meteor Garden fever, the Taiwanese drama which aired here in the Philippines sometime in the year 2001? I bet you do, because ABS-CBN has aired the very popular Taiwanese tv series here in the Philippines again last April and surprisingly, it gained an enormous high ratings in Kapamilya Gold time slot.

Following the trend that Meteor Garden has started, novelist Alesana Marie admitted that she was inspired by the story of Meteor Garden when she wrote "Talk Back and You're Dead" novel in the year 2009-2010, published by Psicom Publishing Inc. This gained mainstream popularity not only in paperback but also on Wattpad as well.

"Talk Back and You're Dead," is definitely another phenomenal movie to boot. This is a follow-up movie of lead stars James Reid and Nadine Lustre from their one of most-talked-about and also high earning movie, "Diary ng Panget," which was shown only this March, 2014. It was also adapted from a series of romantic novels by a Wattpad author under the name of HaveYouSeenThisGirl. Viva Films caught its attention and decided to do a film adaptation of the novel. The turn-out of their movie was a huge success thus, the love team of #JaDine was born.

Popularity and fame is always correlated by intrigues and issues. The #JaDine tandem was soon compared to the No. 1 teenage love team in local show business, the #KathNiel tandem of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. Ironically, Nadine is directly being compared to Kathryn because seemingly, they have a great resemblance (you do the judging hehe). During the "Talk Back and You're Dead" presscon, James Reid and Nadine Lustre finally answered the running comparison between them and #KathNiel.

Please watch this:

"Talk Back and You're Dead" lead cast: James Reid, Nadine Lustre and Joseph Marco during the movie's grand presscon

James Reid as Top

Nadine Lustre as Sam

"Talk Back and You're Dead" (TBYD) is a different love story of teen romance coupled with high-pumping adrenaline of action and the pulsating component of danger. The movie depicts also of the love triangle involving Top (James Reid), Sam (Nadine Lustre) and Red (Joseph Marco). It is like "good girl meets bad boy" thingy plot but still has the elements and main components of the novel as assured by Ms. Keiko Aquino, screenplay writer so as not to disappoint its loyal readers.

Fans of the novel can look forward to witnessing their favorite characters come to life in this live-action version that cleverly instills the narrative's witty lines and romantic encounters as well as its unforgettable and colorful characters such as The Crazy Trio and The Lucky 13

During the presscon, Direk Andoy Ranay explained that, TBYD has a different story and concept apart from "Diary ng Panget: The Movie" since he also directed this first JaDine film.. He even admitted that working with Joseph Marco for the first time, was a lovely experience, he complimented Joseph's patience and professionalism since Joseph has to temporarily dye his hair with color red for most of the scenes.

Joseph Marco as Red

Joseph Marco is considered one of the hottest talents of ABS-CBN today, being one of the cover boys, sought after celebrity endorsers and top leading men, I tag him as "The Next Big Star." He shared that, "Ito po 'yung pinaka-major film ko na nagawa. Working with direk... sobrang patient s'ya tska talagang inaaral n'ya talaga 'yung scene and gina-guide n'ya kami, kapag nagtatanong po ako... kung ano 'yung gusto n'yang atake talagang sinasabi n'ya. Sobrang thankful ako na si direk (Andoy) 'yung direktor namin."

The JaDine love team: James Reid and Nadine Lustre

Nadine shared that, she feels very blessed and that they were very confident about the movie (TBYD) and that, a lot has changed since the success of their last movie "Diary ng Panget." They have now gained a lot of fans and supporters. "It's really amazing eh, 'yung changes, ako po personally, I really didn't expect na magiging ganun s'ya, in less than a year, ang bilis po, sobra in a couple of months lang, 'yun po," she said.
To follow up the topic, James answered, "Actually the JaDine fan base for now, it came out of nowhere, in just about three months, we have such a huge following and they are very supportive and I'm very thankful."
Skylight Films creates another historic and phenomenal milestones as it teams-up with Viva Films for the very first time via this screen adaptation of "Talk Back and You're Dead." So expect a lot more from this movie. This is also like a homecoming of sorts for James as a Kapamilya who gained nationwide popularity as the big winner of 2010's "Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash." TBYD also stars Yassi Pressman as Audrey, Red's sister, who really hates Nadine's character as Sam because she feels intimidated by her since she also has a "thing" for James who plays the leader of the gang as Top.

Yassi Pressman as Audrey

More exciting scenes from your fave stars. Expect much hotter and bolder scenes from JaDine tandem. So, don't forget to watch "Talk Back and You're Dead." (TBYD) showing in all theaters nationwide!!!

Hope you'd like and check out the TBYD album posted on my Facebook page, thanks!

J&J "See the Real Me" Teen-Powerment campus tour officially launched

J&J brand ambassadors and online teensations Krissy and Ericka Villongco performed the official "See the Real Me" anthem.

Teens, most especially the girls often experience lack of confidence, hang-ups, hassles and insecurities brought about by a lot of factors like the pimples starting to show, undergoing hormonal changes, the inevitable monthly periods and sometimes facing some unavoidable circumstances that might affect their normal behavior. These things greatly influence one's personality and attitude, not realizing that they were not able to show their true selves ... thus, the "See the Real Me" campaign was created.

In this note, Johnson & Johnson is pioneering a shift in their marketing philosophy. They are bravely changing the mindset of teen girls who are used to feeling unsure and held back by pimples and menstruation by giving them instead, the confidence and courage to show their real selves-- regardless of the changes happening in their bodies.

Troubling societal phenomenon

The maker of Modess, Clean & Clear, and Carefree revealed today a troubling global statistic: 75% of adolescents aged 13-19 years old are growing up fearful adults, hesitant to show people who they are and to display their potential because they are afraid of being ridiculed or judged for their appearances. Teens fear that their peers focus on the external, bodily manifestations of puberty like pimples, menstrual leaks, and odors instead of who they are inside and what they can do. As a result, instead of sharing their own thoughts and ideas, having fun, or participating in socio-civic activities that drive personal progress and development, they often choose to tuck their heads in a corner and stay on the sidelines.

Event host & MYX VJ Joyce Pring with J&J brand manager introducesw Johnson & Johnson's new philosophy for teens

“Our children are growing up in a world where they feel embarrassed and concerned over bodily changes that are actually normal and manageable,” said Gabrielle Solomon, Clean & Clear brand manager. “These teens will grow up thinking that having pimples, wetness, or menstruation stains are embarrassing and that having these prevents them from pursuing the opportunities available to them. They will think that so long as you are not the traditional, flawless kind of beautiful, or if you don’t work hard to hide your flaws, it will be difficult to stand out and show the world the real you.”

Johnson & Johnson recognizes that along with society, pop culture, and other entities, it played a role in propagating this mindset. In order to sell products, most companies paint puberty as scary and taboo in order to drive demand for the products they provide.

As such, J&J Philippines takes a brave stand with its recently launched, pioneering campaign entitled “See the Real Me.” Spearheaded by the company’s teen brands Clean & Clear, Modess, and Carefree, J&J wants to take the lead in correcting this mindset. It wants teens to understand that pimples, oil, menstruation, and wetness are not hindrances, but rather, milestones of a new chapter in their lives and a signal for them to show the world who they are and what they have to offer.

From taboo topic to celebrating puberty

“See The Real Me” takes on this new empowered mindset among teens by providing real role models—teen girls from the 25% of the population who have shown the courage to rise above puberty issues and are not afraid to move forward and show the world who they really are.  The campaign has also unveiled its official, self-titled anthem which aims to unify both segments and inspire them with its message.

Host Joyce Pring chats with the representatives of the Makati High School student council and clinical psychologist Aileen Sison about their own personal take on undergoing puberty and showing their real selves during the official campaign launch

J&J also provides platforms to make the campaign easily accessible to teen girls. Through digital media, it will be showing video testimonials about real teens talking about the challenges they encounter and expressing who they really are. And through on-ground efforts, there will be various educational teen programs in-store, as well as the J&J See the Real Me Teen-Powerment School Program. After three decades of partnerships with schools nationwide, J&J elevates its program by going beyond physical education and digging deeper into the psychological, emotional, and social components. This school program will initially go to hundreds of schools in the country, with the drive to help give teens the courage to show their real selves and tell them that puberty isn't something to be scared of – and, on the contrary, that it should be celebrated.

"See the Real Me," Teen-Powerment School Program will visit hundreds of schools in the country to help give teens the courage and confidence to show their real selves. The campaign will also extend to educational teen programs in-store as well as to the digital space, in which real teens will share who they really are and what challenges they encounter.

J&J brand ambassadors and Youtube teensations Krissy and Ericka Villongco

Krissy Villongco, one half of the titular online sensation Krissy and Ericka, and Clean & Clear brand ambassador, said, “J&J goes beyond the movement of increasing self-esteem by giving teens the courage to show their real selves. We’re really happy to be part of this campaign because Filipino teenage girls today need a strong support system. It feels good to know that J&J is making them and their emotional well-being a priority.”

During the official launch event of the campaign at Makati High School, the See the Real Me anthem was debuted and performed by Krissy. Teen psychologist from Cribs Foundation, Aileen Sison talked more about the importance of celebrating puberty and having the courage to say #seetherealme.

So to all the teeners out there, watch out for the coming of J&J "See the Real Me" Teen-Powerment campaign in your campus!!!

Be ready to let them show the "Real You!"
