"Pure Love" Set Visit
It was one fine, sunny day, a perfect day to pay a visit to the "Pure Love" location shoot in Bell Mansion in Quezon City. Chatting with the lead stars can be so helpful in our part. Why? Because we get to know them better, see them out of the bright lights and moving cameras. Most of the times, they are in their own natural selves. They tend to be more relaxed, open, candid, funny, transparent and genuine in their own respective selves.
In this note, we get to be #UpClose and personal with them, more intimate, as they say. We get to discover some things that we don't know about them, and it is a great opportunity for us to share with you my dear amazing readers some infos and behind the scene (BTS) pics and other happenings. Isn't that so cool?
When we arrived at the "Pure Love" location, where they shoot the scenes from Raymond's (Arjo Atayde) condo unit, the first lead star that we had the chance to talk to, was Arjo who plays Diane's (Alex Gonzaga) fiance, a man with dark past and secrets, able to do anything just to pursue his selfish goals against Diane and her family, particularly their business. He was able to make his fiance and everyone else believe that he has pure and decent intentions for her.
Arjo Atayde as Raymond
Arjo admires Yen Santos who plays Ysabel in their tv series, for being a good actress. He also talked about his good working relationship with Alex, and that according to him, (maybe) he'll pursue his courtship because for now, he's concentrating with his work and career. He also confirmed to us that Alex has no "attitude," and that she's just so friendly, bubbly and funny during their shoot.
The young actor was able to watch the original Korean version of "Pure Love" (49 Days), but he intended not to finish it so he could come up with his own style of acting. Being a fan of Hollywood films and the actors like al Pacino, Daniel Day Lewis, Robert De Niro, Denzel Washington and Sean Penn. He said, "Yung subtleness nila bilang kontrabida, 'yun 'yung ina-apply ko palagi... inaral ko, ang sabi kasi sa 'kin ni Direk Roni, mas subtle, mas maganda. So pinag-aralan ko 'yung pagiging subtleness ng isang kontrabida, para pag tinitigan, mas realistic. so far, so good naman, parang experiment s'ya eh in a way. Thank God nagustuhan ng mga tao. I'm super thankful." Well Arjo, you know where you got your acting talent, right? hihi
For those who are still not aware that Arjo is the son of character actress Sylvia Sanchez who plays also his mom here in "Pure Love," his mom has only one input for him when it comes to his craft in acting: it's to use his heart, as simple as that. He said, "Whatever comes here, comes out. and towards people, respeto kahit kanino." I asked him if what's more comfortable for him, between drama or action, he finds comfort in doing drama and that's according to him. Arjo hopes to work with Kim Chiu and Maja Salvador in future projects. You want more trivia?
- His first love is dancing. His team competes in the annual hip hop competition.
- He has one year to go before he graduates from college with Entrepreneur course
- He wants to run his own business soon
Alex Gonzaga as Diane
Next, is Alex Gonzaga, who plays a rich girl who had an accident and was in coma. She was given the chance to get her life back since it's not her time yet, according to "Scheduler" played by Matt Evans. Alex was looking very fresh that day. She is so proud to share with us that she's making a book, that's gonna come out in September. It's about heartbroken people. "Ito 'yung mga natutunan ko from my experience and from other people, sa mga friends ko, sa mga nababasa ko, to help young girls." The target market for her book btw, is the teenagers, young adults and single women.
Alex was so excited to share some views about her upcoming book which is now under the process of editing and has one working title that she can't divulge it yet. Wanna know the best love advice she gave? "There are two things in life you don't have to chase... true friends and true love," she replied. 'Atta girl!!!
Best advice that you've learned in life? "Kilalanin mo muna ang sarili mo kung sino ka, hindi 'yung kung ano 'yung sinasabi ng lalaking gusto mo na dapat ganito ka, kung ano 'yung mga sinasabi ng mga kaibigan mo. and sa mga teenagers, I suggest na hindi pa muna sila talaga mag-boyfriend or mag-commit kasi, every now and then nagbabago, 'yung gusto mo nung 13 ka, hindi na 'yun ang gusto mo nung 18 ka at nung 18 ka, hindi 'yun ang gusto mo pag 30 ka. So kapag masyado mong finast-forward ang buhay mo, hindi mo talaga nakuha fully 'yung potential mo as a single person, kasi you don't look for someone who'll complete you... you should be complete already when you meet the one. And how will you complete yourself , of course you have to go your Creator, Christ. So may mga ganun din tayong anggulo (she laughs).
Matt Evans as the "Scheduler"
It was my first time to have a more personal encounter with Matt Evans. The last time I had seen him and had a picture with him was during Calla Lily's concert held at Eastwood City walk in Libis, Q.C. He was with his former girlfriend before. I can say and I've already told him about it, that, he's more handsome now and I guess he's a "late bloomer," so "hiyang" to married life. Kudos to Matt huh, he fits the role of a "Scheduler." He can be strict at times but he can also be unintentionally cute and softhearted.
According to Matt, the whole cast, including him, were so happy about "Pure Love" high ratings. He said, " 'Yung kaba namin nung umpisa, 'yung expectations po ng mga tao, kumbaga naiba eh, napunta sa saya. Ngayon, nae-enjoy pa namin 'yung trabaho kasi alam namin na mas maganda 'yung kinakalabasan. kami mismo sa cast, sobrang excited kami para gawin 'yun." He also admitted that he even watched the original Korean tv series for three consecutive days and had been attached to its story. For him, there's no no big or small roles in the story, every role is important and very much connected," he explained.
Joseph Marco as "Dave"
And finally, last but definitely not the least, it's Joseph Marco aka Dave in "Pure Love" tv series. I call Joseph as #thenextbigstar of ABS-CBN following Enchong Dee's career path. He has a great potential as a serious actor and at the same time, a heartthrob to boot! It's very noticeable most especially in social media, that he has acquired a huge fan-base and following. No wonder he's so busy taping "Pure Love" and "Talk Back and You're Dead," #TBYD with James Reid and Nadine Lustre under Skylight and Regal Films. which is set to be shown on August 20, 2014.
Gurls, here's one good news about Joseph, you wanna know na? Hihi, he admitted that he's single and available! And that's his updated status. :)) This month of August, Joseph is now celebrating his fourth year in show business- from the previous tv series he made like "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," with Judy Ann Santos to "Wansapanatym" then recently was "Honesto," ABS-CBN and the viewing public has noticed his style in acting and strong presence. I personally asked him, how is he liking his character as "Dave" in "Pure Love," the hunk actor replied: "Gustong- gusto ko kasi medyo strict s'ya per 'yun pala may natatagong kabaitan at malambot ang puso." Very well said, Joseph, hope to see you again soon and more power to your career.

Yen Santos aka Ysabel during "Pure Love" grand presscon
We were fortunate enough to have a casual talk with the four members of the cast of "Pure Love," minus Yen Santos who were sick that time, I hope she's doing well and good now. Kudos to Yen, we've seen her good performances in several MMK episodes and tv series like 'Ikaw Ay Pag-ibig," "Pintada," and "Dugong Buhay" as the young adult Sunshine Cruz (Isabel). Whereas here in 'Pure Love," she also plays Ysabel a young lady who feels depressed and desperate about the loss of her boyfriend and blames herself for what happened. Ironically, Diane uses Ysabel's body to fulfill the task given to her by the Scheduler, which is to collect "pure tears" out of "Pure Love" shed by people outside her family circle. It was very refreshing to know that in spite of the success of their "Pure Love" tv sries, acquiring high ratings, these lead stars were very accommodating, friendly, amiable and grounded. No wonder, they've easily gained the respect and support of their fans in and out of the country. Just continue to watch "Pure Love" dearies, every weeknights in ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida before TV Patrol.
Way to go Alex, Matt, Arjo and Joseph! We all love your show! Congrats to the whole cast, staff and to direk Roni!
