Filipina actress Jessy Mendiola was appointed as Korea Tourism Ambassador

Philippines' most well- loved actress and famous personality is also one of Korea's most well- loved person. Jessy Mendiola is now the appointed Korea Tourism Ambassador. She was awarded such prestigious title and position last October 31, 2013 by the Korean Tourism Organization (KTO), a government agency dedicated to tourism promotion of the Republic of Korea.

As we all know, Jessy had been to Korea last year, to participate in the KBS channel's World Date with K-pop stars Shinee. She has received a very warm welcome by most of the Korean audience there. Since then, Jessy has been visiting the country often and gladly accepted the duty of Korea Tourism Ambassador in the Philippines. Jessy shared, "Korea is a very beautiful country, I'm very interested in their culture and the people."

Director of KTO Manila Office, Mr. Sangyong Zhu says, "We, Korean citizens, are very happy to have Jessy as our Honorary Tourism Ambassador. We think Jessy is the right person to be an Honorary Ambassador because she is one of the most popular actresses and models as a rising star in the field of showbiz in hte Philippines. She is still young but already became one of the most influential celebrities in the Philippine society. Particularly, we would like to give her more chances to publicize Korean premium tours and Korean beauty and wellness tourism in that she does possess both external and internal beauty and attractiveness. As you are aware, her image is bright, amiable, good-natured and even noble. Additionally, more than 660,000 fans from her SNS such as Twitter and Facebook could also be potential supporters of Korean like herself."

Jessy enjoys her travel to Korea's nicest tourist spots

The KTO Manila Office is promoting and developing the tourism products especially they are targeting high-end market for K-beauty and Wellness. Jessy experienced Korea's Premium Tour when she visited last October 29. For five days, she went to three Korean hospitals, Changdeokgung Royal Palace, N-Seoul Tower, Lotte World and other famous tourism spots. Make way for the "King of the Gil," Enrique Gil

Enrique Gil, the dancing prince in his generation, is now ready to show the world his swag, his moves and angst on stage via his first major dance concert entitled, 'King of the Gil," to be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City on November 29, 2013, Friday.

At the height of the after effects of the strongest typhoon, Yolanda/ Haiyan, that ever hit the Philippines or the world, Quen (Enrique) still manages to entertain the people and has pledged to give a portion of the proceeds of his concert to the survivors of #YolandaPH. Such a great gesture, Quen, solid! :))

So, your concert tickets will serve a double purpose: you get to be entertained not only by Quen but also by his special friends and guest performers and at the same time, you get to help our "kababayans" who were left distraught by typhoon Yolanda. Speaking of Quen's special guests, everyone will be very much delighted in his line- up that includes: Vice Ganda, Angel Locsin, Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Young JV, Rayver Cruz, Rico Blanco, Gloc 9, Arjo Atayde, Aaron Villaflor, Martin Del Rosario, Ejay Falcon and Kim Chiu. Expect Quen to perform special dance numbers with his "Princess and I" co- star, Kathryn Bernardo and "Muling Buksan Ang Puso" leading lady, Julia Montes. Dance groups "Streetboys" and "G Force" will help illuminate the dance floor with their hot and bombastic choreography.

Pretty boy and talented Quen

Quen described his upcoming concert as, "Yung show kasi parang, it's a celebration of me. So parang sa lahat ng sumuporta sa 'kin from the start, since mga "Dougie," sa "Gentleman," parang 'thank you' lang sa fans, so it's my 'thank you' sa lahat ng love and support na binibigay nila. So binabalik ko sa inyo, magpeperform ako para sa inyo. It's more of a 'thank you' concert." He also shared that, concert goers can get to experience the largest video mapping they could ever see.

The dancing prince has been in the industry since 2008, he belongs to ABS-CBN's Star Circle Batch 16. according to him, never had he been so inclined in dancing. "Hindi ko ma-imagine na magiging ganito ako katagal dito. Hanggang ngayon hindi ko pa alam kung bakit nandito pa ako, ginagawa ko lang 'yung gusto ko, sumasayaw ako, nag-eenjoy ako, masaya lang po ako, thank you na umabot ako dito and I wanna stay for a long, long time pa," he said.

Enrique also shared that, before in high school, he was never a performer, he just stayed behind the scene, during school plays, he was the "audio man" or one of the special effects crew, never a dancer nor a singer. He also admitted that since he likes music that much, he finds dancing so fun and enjoyable. All his inhibitions and reservations had faded away and this has defined him more as a person. Dancing has brought him out of his shell and he had gained confidence from doing it. He wants to inspire others to do the same, expressing one's self through dancing with the music, not minding what other people say, as long you're happy and enjoying.

One performer (local) that he wants to perform with is Gary V. and Chris Brown (international). He plans to travel in the future. Acting is really part of his job, he finds this as an expression of himself in a deeper way but he really couldn't take away dancing as part of his system, he likes to entertain people and have fun.

During Quen's blog conference for his "King of the Gil" concert, we had an amazing time with him. It was like we were also among the guests in  Gandang Gabi Vice (GGV) show, hahaha. Quen taught us how to dance the "Dougie," "Whoops Kiri," and the "What the Fox Say" dance steps which Vice Ganda has popularized in his "It's Showtime" and "GGV" shows. He was very amiable and we really enjoyed dancing with him and I'm pretty sure, he also enjoyed as well, hehe.

Quen, me (in blue) and the rest of my co-bloggers dancing! It was so fun and hilarious!

Look! We're enjoying huh! ;))

Enrique Gil poses with the bloggers/ performers, hahaha We all had so much fun with you Quen, this is so unforgettable, hope this won't be the first and last ;)) (special thanks to Gracee Bongolan for this photo and for taking our pictures with Quen!)

Make way for the "King of the Gil!" This is a year-ender event of Enrique for all his fans and supporter.
Here's another good news for everyone, Enrique has divulged that, he's scheduled to do a teleserye before the year ends or early next year, so watch out amazing peeps! :))

For more updates about "King of the Gil," visit Star Records Facebook page or follow @strarecordsph on Twitter.

We love you Quen, thank you for the wonderful time! More power and God bless!

SM Foundation boosts its Operation Tulong Express by sending out 50,000 Relief Packs to Yolanda victims

Survivors receive aid from “Operation Tulong”, an SM Foundation relief drive, in typhoon-ravaged Cebu.

I guess there's always reason a for everything... a lot of questions has been asked, why do the Filipino people have to suffer like this? Why Philippines? Why do we have to experience such tragic and dreadful calamities that cost the lives of  numerous Filipino people?

Now, I know why this has to occur... this is not only a "wake up call" as they say, it's a sign of hope, a promise... this only signifies that, no matter how distressing some people's lives had turned out, there's always a rainbow at the end of every storm.

It may not happen at once, it may not materialize the way we want it to, but somehow, we are holding on to something. The abominable happening has touched everyone's hearts globally, it has brought oneness,  camaraderie, no discrimination, no reservations... always wanting to help and render aid in whichever they can with one common goal. It is to at give comfort and ease the lives of  the survivors of typhoon #YolandaPH.

In light of all these, SM Foundation Sends Out 50,000 Relief Packs to Yolanda Victims The SM Group of Companies, through the SM Foundation's disaster relief program, Operation Tulong Express, has started relief operations in typhoon-stricken areas across Luzon and the Visayas region to provide assistance to the families greatly affected by super typhoon Yolanda. “The SM Group of Companies has mobilized SM Foundation’s Tulong Express disaster relief facility. We are distributing 50,000 kalinga packages to typhoon victims in Tacloban, Samar, Panay Island (Iloilo, Antique, Capiz), Cebu, Bicol and Bacolod," said SM Foundation executive director Debbie Sy.

An SM Foundation “Operation Tulong” truck carrying relief goods for disaster survivors arrives in Cebu.

Following the onslaught of “Yolanda,” SM Foundation volunteers and partners were able to immediately prepare 20,000 relief goods and have repacked 30,000 more for distribution to various areas at once. The Kalinga relief packages consist of bottles of mineral water, rice, ready-to-eat ulam packs, and instant noodles. A total of 50,000 relief packs are allocated in the following areas, Tacloban (20,000 packs); Cebu (10,000); Panay Island (7,000); Samar (5,000); Bohol (4,000); Bicol (3,000); and Bacolod (1,000).

The distribution is done in cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Philippine Air Force, local government units, SM Malls, SM Hypermaket, SM Supermarket, and SaveMore. SM Foundation also accepts donations in kind through Tulong Express booths in all SM Malls nationwide or in cash deposited at BDO account name: SM Foundation Inc.-Operation Tulong Express with savings account number: 15000 70694. SM Foundation will issue receipt of donations for deposit slips faxed to 831-8282.

For SM employees, they were able to raise more than Php100,000 for the Bohol earthquake victims. Currently, the employees are raising funds for the victims of typhoon Yolanda. While for its other ongoing relief efforts, the Foundation vowed that it will push through with the assistance it is currently extending to other regions in the country that were hit by previous calamities, such as the earthquake that struck Bohol and Cebu in October and typhoon Maring which battered various parts of the Philippines last August.

We'll move on eventually... God bless our country.

Domex launches 1M Clean Toilets Movement, Support and make your Pledge today

Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno (middle) led the pledge and campaign for the 1M Clean Toilets Movement by Domex together with Unilever Philippines' Vice President for Corporate Affairs Mr. Chito Macapagal (far right). The event took place at the Patio Victoria in Intramuros, Manila just recently.

If I am to ask you dear readers, how well do you clean your toilets? Actually, I have to confess, even yours truly is not properly oriented about the proper ways of toilet cleaning until last Tuesday, November 5, 2013.

I was invited to cover the Domex launch for one million clean toilets movement joined by multi-sector partnerships of Unilever, with UNICEF, the Philippine Public Health Association, the City of Manila and Pilipinas Shell. The campaign aims to encourage a culture of cleanliness by increasing the public’s awareness on the importance of maintaining proper toilet sanitation through a series of year-long cleaning and education initiatives.

In celebration of the World Toilet Day this November, UNICEF and Domex has once again partnered to promote public awareness of the proper toilet sanitation and public restroom clean-up program since last year. Domex, being the number one germ-killer brand from Unilever will be part of the expansion as it will deputize Germ Busters through a series of training activities on the proper servicing of restrooms covering City Service employees, NLEX and SLEX Shell gas station service personnel, and selected school and hospital sanitation staff. Thus, promoting nationwide initiative for better bathroom sanitation.

During the said launch, I've also learned that, there are about 2 million bacteria per inch that can be found in a bathroom and yet over 90% of local households are unaware of proper toilet hygiene and sanitation practices. Can you imagine that? So creepy right? Imagine the accumulated minutes that we spend inside our own bathrooms daily, not to mention the public toilets that we also get into huh! And according to UNICEF, diarrhea is the third leading cause of child illness and fourth leading cause of death of children under five years old.

Domex brand manager Dennis Chua shared, “Good hygiene practices are learned at home, and what every household must understand is that proper sanitation is a necessity, not a luxury.” He also added that, “Using common cleaning products such as detergents and bleach may result in clean surfaces, but without germ-killing agents, they cannot provide total disinfection. Regular use of a specialized cleaning product can significantly decrease levels of virus contamination, and minimize the contraction of illnesses like influenza, diarrhea, and hepatitis."

If you think that you are learning and gaining a lot of useful info from the Domex launch of 1M Clean Toilets Movement, oh well, to tell you honestly, I, myself did enjoy and had acquired various tips from the speakers and the whole event itself. but wait, here's more! I wouldn't let you finish reading my article without me, sharing what I've learned about the proper steps in cleaning our toilets, amazing readers. :))

1. Wear proper protective gear like rubber gloves and mask.

2. Use Domex Toilet Bowl Cleaner and directly squeeze nozzle under toilet rim in a circular motion.

3. Allow at least 5 minutes for the product to cover the entire toilet bowl and effectively kill the germs.

4. Use a brush and scrub the toilet bowl surface from top to bottom.

5. Flush the toilet to rinse. But be sure to put down the toilet cover before flushing.

6. Prepare a separate solution of thick bleach in a pail of water to clean other toilet surfaces.

And those are the right and very well sanitized ways of cleaning our toilets. We should regularly do that using Specialized Toilet Cleaner like Domex Toilet Bowl Cleaner instead of soap, detergents and the bleach.

Specialized toilet cleaners with anti-bacterial agents, are effective in destroying all known germs and viruses. Soap and detergents only lifts up soils and dirt and rinse them away with water without destroying them. Thin bleach is easily washed away after the first flush and doesn't get enough coverage without the spout.

Vice Mayor Isko Moreno giving his speech during the Domex 1M Clean Toilets Movement launch

The local government of Manila is very proud and privileged to be part of this campaign and according to Manila's Vice Mayor Isko Moreno, they're so thankful to Unilever Philippines for having this kind of advocacy partnered with UNICEF promoting better public awareness of proper toilet cleaning habits that really start at home. This itself could help the Filipino citizens eliminate the cause of various illnesses and bacteria-related diseases which as a result, would also eventually decrease the quantity of patients that would be consulting from their physicians and be confined as well to the government hospitals.
It was so refreshing to know also that, being there at the said campaign launch, I was able to partake in their advocacy by simply liking Domex Philippines Facebook page and clicking Domex 1M Clean Toilets Movement App

Let us help, support, join and pledge now!

The bar for success has been set high: to collect a total of one million pledges from private households to conscientiously maintain their own clean, safe, and hygienic bathrooms by the next World Toilet Day in November 2014.

Here's another great news! Individuals who will pledge to support the One Million Clean Toilets Movement via the Domex Philippines FB Page (facebook.com/DomexPhilippines) will also help grow a global fund to help improve access to basic sanitation in areas of need all over the world as Domex will donate P5 to UNICEF’s Sanitation Program for every pledge received.

Celebrity/ Host Dimples Romana placed her pledge too!

And now, the challenge would be... is it possible that we'd be "Saving Lives, One Toilet at a Time?"
The answer lies within us. And I firmly believe, that we could all do this! We know how the power of the Filipinos work, right? We always standout amidst trials, troubles, calamities and everything.

So click away all your pledges now! We could reach the 1M Clean Toilets to support the
World Toilet Day!

Billion Better Lives
As part of the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan (USLP), the One Million Clean Toilets Movement strengthens Unilever’s “Billion Better Lives” campaign by helping 1 billion people to improve their health and well-being by 2020. The plan, launched globally in 2010, will result in three significant outcomes by 2020- allowing us to source 100% of our agricultural raw materials sustainably, halve the environmental footprint of our products, and help more than a billion people improve their health and well-being, or the Billion Better Lives campaign. The USLP inspires people to take small everyday actions that can add up to a big difference for the world.
