NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL reveals the Mind Power with BRAIN GAMES

Premiering tonight, September 24, 2013, Tuesday at 9 PM is National Geographic Channel’s new series Brain Games, a show that explores the human mind’s powers of perception as well as the skills that it affords us. Using mind-boggling experiments, brainteasers, optical illusions and hard science, Brain Games shows viewers how the human brain works and how their lives are affected as a result.

NGC will be showing a Brain Games special on September 24 for its premiere. In the premiere episode, viewers are lured into the world of sleight of hand, of advanced card play and card magic, with a focus on the oldest card trick in the world, the Three Card Monte. Card performers will be revealing the secrets behind their tricks as well as exploring the psychology that allows people to be tricked. Also, the connection between human beings and primates will be highlighted, giving us a better understanding of our social interactions and dynamics, and how we perceive our relationships because we are hard-wired in a certain way.

Viewers of the show will learn that seeing isn’t necessarily believing when they are presented with optical illusions that, when revealed, will illustrate how our brains help us build our ideas of reality. Brain Games will also examine the powers of persuasion and how marketers are trained to communicate with us in such ways that our brains can’t help responding to or be convinced.

Brain Games will leave no fold of gray matter unturned, no neuron untouched in its quest to help viewers understand how and why the brain works. With the help of experts in neuroscience and mind trickery, the show discusses and explains many aspects of thinking that affect our lives, from issues of trust and sanity to why we make certain decisions and how men and women’s brains work differently.

NGC has partnered with @IGersManila to promote Brain Games through the Instagram account’s #9PMHabit daily contest. The promo will run from September 24 to October 22 during the showing of Brain Games on NGC. @IGersManila will be making calls for photo entries based on weekly ad daily themes determined by NGC, and submissions must be made between 9 PM and 11 PM, with the following tags: #9PMHabit, @IGersManila, @NatGeoChannelsPH, #BrainGamesPH and the hashtag for the theme of the day. Four winners will be chosen daily, with winning photos to be posted on @IGersManila at 9 AM on the following day. Winners will receive premium items from NGC besides the bragging rights of having their photos seen by the more than 21,000 followers of @IGersManila.

Explore the human mind and discover its awesome power by catching Brain Games on National Geographic Channel every Tuesday at 9 PM, beginning on September 24.

Divisoria Guide App Now Available for Download

Anyone can snatch the best deals in Manila's famous marketplace with the help of an app – and without worries of getting lost.

Divisoria Guide App for iOS, an application created by young Filipino entrepreneur from Palawan province, John Christian Yayen will be available for download starting 5pm on Friday, September 6.

The app, which will be sold at $2.99 or around P130 at the App Store is the best would-be-mobile-essential for new and aspiring entrepreneurs, and bargain hunters as they explore the country’s biggest marketplace for bargains.

Divisoria Guide App’s main feature is the offline map that covers all the streets in the crowd-drawing Divisoria market in Manila. Notes and tips on how to score a deal as well as what street merchandises to buy were also featured in the app.

As someone who already got lost in the crowded Manila area several times before, Yayen said he decided to work on the App not only to help himself but also other small business owners and ordinary consumers who might be interested to shop at Divisoria but are hesitant to do so for they have no idea where to go, not to mention the fact they are very concerned with their safety.

The 24 year-old BS Nursing graduate of the University of Santo Tomas added, “Divisoria Guide is the perfect app for everyone who would dare to visit that part of Manila especially nowadays that even search engine giant, Google has very limited information about it.”

Yayen said locals and even the Chinese businessmen who frequent the area are not even that familiar with the places that he just discovered while doing his research for this app. His almost one year of hard work made him realize that Divisoria has a lot of things to offer – from the basic commodities at very low prices that attract local and foreigners alike to as huge as the Filipino culture and history.

With this app, mobile app users can now access great information in just a click of a keypad.

With plenty of information on establishments, products, and other useful utilities, the app would help users in many ways, which include saving a lot of their time, money and effort.

Indeed, there's no better way to explore Divisoria than by having this reliable app on one's iOS device.

Divisoria Guide App will also be available for Android soon.

Hari, the phenomenal "Gwiyomi" Korean singer is here! Catch her in Ayala Malls!

Hari, the Original Korean Artist of "Gwiyomi" song is here in town! Let's jump into the "Gwiyomi" craze in Ayala Malls!!!

The phenomenal K-pop singer and Youtube sensation, Hari is here to perform her "Gwiyomi Song," live in Ayala malls! The South Korean singer is a pretty, humble and simple lass who just openly wanted to please everyone, gearing up a cute image style that would be appealing. Having thought of all these, they've (together with her producers) come up with an idea that led to the song "Gwiyomi" (kwiyomi is how you pronounce it), combined it with her cute actions.

Hari was presented to the press and media people yesterday, September 5, 2013 during her grand presscon held at Glorietta 5. If you could still remember, her song "Gwiyomi" became viral online via different social networking sites including Youtube, February of this year that made her an official Youtube sensation. Her video has already hit millions of views. She never thought that it would reach that far. Her dance craze invaded not only her homeland, which is South Korea, but it also extended outside until Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore and of course here, in the Philippines. Some local celebrities who did their own take of the Gwiyomi song are celebrity cosplayer Alodia Gosengfiao, Jasmine Curtis, Enrique Gil, Kathryn Bernardo  and teen actress Ella Cruz.

Asked what does she think about the reason why her video became so viral and why it created a huge impact on K-pop fanatics and netizens? Hari shared through her interpreter, "I think that the song is very catchy and cute and it appeals to all audience and at the same time it's very easy to follow." "Gwiyomi" by the way is a Korean slang used to refer to a cute person. It's cutesy song about a Korean girl’s proclamation of love for her boyfriend and how she endearingly wants him to promise that they will always stay together.

Given the chance to collaborate with a fellow K-pop artist, she candidly admits having a hope to do it with Big Bang's G-Dragon.

During the presscon, Hari expressed that she wants all her fans to please continue supporting her and expect a lot from her because she promise to do her best. :))

Concert with a Cause with Richard Poon

Richard Poon performs classic and contemporary hits in his mini concert for Golden Acres retirees.

Jazz sensation Richard Poon pleased audiences with a mix of classic and contemporary hits at “Growing Old With You”, a concert held at Celebrity Sports Plaza in Diliman, Quezon City for the benefit of the senior citizens of Golden Acres Haven for the Elderly.

The “big band crooner” known for his jazzed rendition of Filipino classic songs such as “Kahit Maputi na Ang Buhok Ko” also sang his own version of Carla Rae Jepsen’s “Call me Maybe” and One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful” to the surprise and delight of the crowd. Selections like Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” and Adam Sandler’s “Grow Old With You” helped set the tone for the event.

“I usually over prepare,” said Poon, when asked about his song choices. “The band knows me well enough that I never follow what I initially write.” Poon said his song line-up changes in mid-performance depending on the reaction he gets from the crowd. “If I don’t, it’s going to be boring.”
Poon, who had performed in a number of other charitable efforts, described the event as “intimate”. “You’d have thoughts like ‘I’ll grow old someday, will somebody take care of me?’” he said. “It does strike a chord somewhere.”

All-female group Pretty Young Thing and song-and-comic trio The Miss Tres of Pilipinas Got Talent Season 4 were the opening acts of the night. The concert was organized by Outbox Media Production Agency, a full-service events management and multimedia production company, as part of its seventh anniversary and the birthday of its founder and managing director, Rossel Velasco-Taberna.

Rossel Velasco-Taberna (left) with husband Anthony Taberna speaks before the elderlies of Golden Acres Haven for the Elderly in Tanay, Rizal. Rossel celebrated her birthday and company’s seventh anniversary in the retirement home.

Other companies that answered the call of the fundraising event are Foton Motors Philippines, Puregold, Uratex Foam, Bounty Fresh Chicken, Asia Refreshments Corporation, Waterfront Hotels and Casino, Ferna Corporation, Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center, The Blounge, Hot Shot Studio, Sogo Chain of Hotels, and Tunying’s Bread.

Concert with a cause

Velasco-Taberna said funds raised by the concert will be used for the medication and financial support of the residents of Golden Acres in its newly built facility in Barangay Sampaloc in Tanay, Rizal that takes care of over 140 abandoned, neglected, and homeless senior citizens.

“We do this annually, but this is the first time we had elders for our beneficiaries. Mostly, they have been kids,” Velasco-Taberna said, adding that the company has been partnering with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for their projects. “We asked DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman about possible beneficiaries and she suggested that we visit the elderlies who were transferred here in Tanay,”
Earlier, the company visited the site and treated residents to a number of entertainment performances, in addition to providing them with food and donations in kind. “We've been very blessed this year,” said Velasco-Taberna.”We hope for more socially-inclined events for Outbox.”

Both events were lauded by local DSWD officers. “I admire her decision to celebrate her birthday and company anniversary here. Their visit had brought enjoyment and satisfaction to our elderlies,” said Ricky Bunao, manager and center head of Golden Acres. “We hope they continue to extend their help to other retirement centers as well.”
